In 5e I mean. KOS in particular. Move Trukks, Get Out, Move, Run, Waagh auto-hit with your S9 powerfist on counts as rear armour.

Why would you automatically hit? You can only automatically hit vehicles if they don't move, and even then skimmer vehicles count as moving. Likewise apparently it is not the case that hits in close combat will always be counted against a vehicle's Rear armour.

Posting tactics using unconfirmed rules is pretty useless. Besides, you can't waaagh on turn 1 anyway, so no assault if you run. By turn 2 you can pretty much guess that the other guy has started moving his vehicles.

You can't be the best army at anti-tank when you can't take down a monolith.

And also rely on punching tanks, surely you dont plan on someone have all of his tanks in one spot? even if you do blow up the tank you dont get to consolidate, so assuming you do get your assault in and destroy a tank, congrats your now standing out in the open and your unit gets blown off the board.

Not if you block LOS by engaging the intervening unit in CC with another unit or using the trukk.

I was under the impressing that in 5e auto-hits were guaranteed against vehicles without a WS whether they were stationary or moving. If that's not the case then massed Lootas/Rokkits will be only option.

Not true. The army I'm currently toying around with uses two souped-up psyker Orks, the Warpheads. Two of them combined give you a roughly 50/50 chance to Waaagh! on any given turn if you're willing to use your rerolls to get a 6 on the psychic power roll and you pass all your psychic power rolls (not hard on 10s, generally)

Wrecking-balls, deff rollas and power claws (especially biker bosses with 7 s10 attacks) do fantastic against just about any vehicle. Orks can also get extremely cheap auto-cannons, massed krak missile units, cheap grot-manned missile launchers and dozens of other cheap anti-armor fire.

in the stomp'n center of da WAAAAAAGGH!!!!

ya and those many str 8 shots hit on 4's if they are grots, most likely they will hit on 5's for: boyz, trucks, battle weagons and so forth
it takes a 6 to glance a land raider and since space marines are the most popular race you will face a lot of these, no orks are not a tank killing army. if you want to kill armor at range than join the greater good with str 10 ap1 shots

Can't move after disembarking if the vehicle moved that turn. Can still run and assault though since a trukk is open-topped.

However, Orks are not the best anti-tank army, they're actually one of the worst. Aside from lootas (which are fantastic), the rest of the Orks' ranged anti-tank is pretty lackluster and unreliable. And the best reliable strength they can get at range is 8 for a few shots or 7 with a lot of shots, making AV 13 and 14 vehicles nearly immune to the ranged weapons of most Ork armies. The only way for Orks to kill those vehicles is in assault, which means those vehicles get several turns of unmolested firing off.

Even PKs in assault are not that reliable if the target vehicle is moving. 4 strength 9 attacks from nobs or 6 strength 10s from a warboss (which is the max they can get, not 7) do not reliably kill monoliths or land raiders that have moved, especially if the land raider moved more than 6", because they need 6s to hit. Just a regular nob's PK, your bread and butter as an Ork, has slightly better than a 50% chance to get a single hit on a vehicle that moved more than 6". Not good odds compared to a marine toting a melta.

However, on the whole Orks can deal decently well with vehicles. It is simply that they, like Tyranids, typically need to kill heavy vehicles in assault and that's just how the army goes.

Skimmers don't get any special bonus against CC any more.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Ork anti-tank is pretty bad. I'm hoping the TO isn't serious. This was (intentionally, I assume) one of the inherent weaknesses of orks.

Tau is easily the best anti-tank army.

Coversaves be damned.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

In short, Orks are not the best anti-tank race.

/thread.

Tau, Guard or Blood Angels Id say. (Tau because of their crysis dual fusion squads, NOT their railguns!)

...urrrr... I dunno

Orks do have a lot of anti-tank stuff, but then again, they also have problems hitting with it.
Some form of SM or Tau army will do better in the long run.

Do you know how old Nurglitchs comment is ^^?

Gah, never seen the revival of a thread THAT old. At least not in TT-forums.
