I got asked to make a mech Eldar list for 5th edition which wouldn't so much close combat the enemy but be focused on mobile firepower, without risking lots of KPs and avoiding all non-guardian units. I think the primary purpose was to blow away horde armies quickly or cut holes in them as fast as possible.

So all guardians, the HQ should be pretty survivable, and everything has mobile firepower but it does expose you to withering fire in return.

19 Shuri Cannons + 3 prisms does seem pretty damn fun. lol

9 Vypers and 8 medium tanks might be excessive, hard to say.

Well, here you go.

I'm not fully aware of the 5th ed rules.
But you kept the upgrades of the tanks minimal, what's the reason?

Nice list, overall. Look like it'll take some damage inbound, hit hard in turn 2, and then be decimated if anything survives (which might not be often against 4+ or worse saves, but 3+ will be live to hit back). Looks fun, though.

One major change needed: stones on all vehicles, or at the very least the transports. It's worth dropping a Vyper or two to up your chances of getting those five bail-and-sprays out.

It would be fun to see opponents trying to prioritize targeting against this list. I see a common theme in that with the foot list that you just posted. I do think that's not the best defense against experienced players, who will pick targets based on proximity and settle for shakes on the Prisms/Vyper squads.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I agree Savnock. I would have put stones on, but I was asked to not put any upgrades on but the HQ. Seems a bit odd, and I think 1 vyper less would be worth it on the Prisms.

Not putting upgrades on in certain lists boosts the power of said lists.

When all of your tanks are the same (AV12, 5+ cover save) and you can block LOS to the back rank of vehicles with the front rank...the list goes from being a 'I will survive' list to a 'if you don't kill me quickly, I'm going to punish you terribly and in short order'.

It's best when it wins first turn, but it has so many units that'd it be difficult to knock enough out to reduce the effectiveness of it's first strike.

You have to consider it's capability vs older Codexes (Dark Eldar, Space Marines) which isn't so hot; in contrast to the newer Codexes (DA, Chaos, etc) where the new army lists are severely limited in how many decent anti-tank weapons they can field on cheap units and not be a 'rock, paper, scissors' unbalanced army.

For example, my normal Chaos army can really own face on non-mech armies. On mech armies, especially ones with so many vehicles and units...I need every obliterator team to kill a vehicle every turn before I lose my whole army--and I still might lose my whole army because even with S8 shots built into my 6 troops choices (which most chaos armies do NOT have) I'm going to be hard pressed to take the beating the Eldar can dole out and still have a army left at the end of the day.

Alot of newer armies will have this problem, because the new Codexes don't really offer decent flex like we're all used to.

Don't think of the older Codexes, just think of the new ones.

BA jump pack army? Deathwing/Ravenwing army? BT Crusader rush army?

They have a hell of a time killing 2 AV13 vehicles before their own AT units are shot away, how are they going to beat a list like this? With a razorback rush? I don't think so.
