I have always wanted to post soem pictures of an army that I had been working on but my photography skills blow. So I went out and purposefully had a kid with a gal that was a photography ninja just so that I could post some quality pics for you here on DakkaDakka. The unfortunate part is that this post almost becomes a sales pitch as the army, now that it is finihsed, is going to the auction block. Anywho, this army recently won "Best Appearance" in a torunament a few weeks ago here in Anchorage with 52 possible contestants which I am proud and somewhat bewildered to mention. The theme for the army was based around a brief mention of the chapter in a rogue Trader era article and then a sketch of a figure in the How To Paint Space Marines book. That way they were part of the GW fluff but still open ended so I could play with their make-up. My idea for them was that they were a near-rogue chapter that was virtually forgotten, they are low on man-power but cobble together all the firepower they could. Lots of terminators, land-raiders, scouts, dreads and heavy weapons. Light on fast attack and transports. Here are a few pics, and, in fear of sounding like an ad, there will be more on eBay shortly so you can look up more there. OR if I get off my ass at some point I'll post more pics on DakkaDakka.

Like the models, but whats with the guy on the far right in picture four? To me he looks like he's sniggering at something.

Love the Dread stepping on the Chaos marine. It's stuff like this that makes me want to come back to 40k.

Had this great idea for a conversion, a captain in terminator armour assessing the battlefield rubbing his jaw. Buuuuut, unfortunatly when it came time to put it together it just ended up looking a lil weird, more like he was trying to whistle but couldn't fit his big metal glove in his mouth or what ever. One of these days I'll probably try to recreate this model for a friend's army and see about making it clear that he is in fact rubbing his jaw. Otherwise I love the crap out of this conversion and really the hand doesn't bother me too much.
As per what I am doing next.... a buddy of mine and I goto these Team Tournaments every year up here that are a thousand points per person for a total of 2,000 points a team. Last year we rolled with Necron, this year we used the Iron Fists and next we want to combine our two favoriet armies: Orks and Plague Marines especially since you can now rolll with Plague bikers again! So I am gunna Nurdle-up some Orks and orky-up some Plague Marines. Should be fun. Now that I have a photographer in the house I'll keep you posted on that.
Thanks a ton for all of your comments guys!

Nice stuff, although the hand guy did make me laugh. It looks to me more like he just smelled something really foul and is about to turn around and ask his men who did it.
Also, twin ML Termies? Brave man!

Stupendous army, best of luck selling it and I hope you get a good price (and it goes to a good home)
I'm saving the techmarine with servitor arm for inspiration, though I was also impressed by the marine bandaging up his arm and the thinking commander.

I thought the terminator was having a coughing fit. I liked to imagine him thinking "Damn hayfever... I bet those Nurgle worshippers don't have to put up with this crap."
Great looking army. I am going to have to save this thread for conversion inspiration.

When I was first putting the army together I wanted 8 Land Raiders since that is as many as you can field in one army, and each would have a diorama. Only made three after all. But the next one was going to have a couple marines inside eating burritos. At some point I am gunna make a Fallen army, maybe then.

The techmarine razorback is pretty rockin', and the medic bay in the Land Raider is great. Props to you for building a mostly Mark VI army! I like the champions shoulderpads on the Devs, too. Nice touch.

Isn't eating burritos inside an enclosed space like a LR or Rhino against codex? Or does Codex Astartes just recommend leaving the firing ports open?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

Hmmmm, good point. Hope they have good air-filtration on them there Land Raiders. Maybe it is not that Land Raider Crusaders really have frag launchers, it is just that the smell from inside is so horrible that the enemy is caught gagging for air and the marines get to strike simo.

I second the awesomeness of the Techmarine Rhino! That lifter arm is badass.
Your diorama work is great. I hope the Plague Orks give you lots of opportunities for color like that.
