Do you think that this will make anyone take UM to the UK GT? I still doubt that it will be top-tier but it could be a slight boost for SAFH marines.

I'm not sure that UM can take traits, but I'll take your word for it.

I doubt a SAFH list would take Tigger though, points away from heavy weapons. The primary threats to SAFH Marines come from Mech Eldar delivering Harlequins and Zilla nids doing as they do. Widening the area on a FTD doesn't really address either issue. Usually the leaders I see in a Shooty marine list are a master for leadership and a chaplain to lead the counterattack squad (optional, I've seen a few lists with no counterattack squad at all). Another popular choice for the second HQ is an inquisitor with shooty retinue and an assassin.

A couple of times I've seen a Hood bearer brought along, due to the stronger psychic powers in the last couple dexes. Does tigger have a hood? If so a list that went this way might well decide to upgrade their guy to Tigurius.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I wonder if Tigger in that aspect would be usefull in a drop pod to clear out an ork backfield? Popping in, scaring off the lootas and any grot cannons or something might be fun. Probably not efficient enough, but funny.

i was under the assumption that Ultramarines couldn't take traits becasue they followed the Codex Astartes word for word with no deciance. Other armies can take traits becasue they are in some way, shape, or form being deviant from the Codex teachings. And since the UltraMarines follow it they don't have any special traits.

Allowing Ultras to take traits is from the UKGT FAQ, stinking pile that it is.

You are correct by the Codex which clearly states Ultramarines cannot take traits. As Moz pointed out the UK GT FAQ overrides the codex for the GT, and I agree with his steaming pile opinion.

Kay i get that much. I'm just wondering if that means that I can build an army of Ultramarines with traits without the intent of a GT. Meaning, does the UK GT FAQ override the Codex for non-GT games as well?

lol really, UM get traits? that's effing hilarious.

Ah well, the UK GT system somehow manages to get worse each year.

Glad they came around last year to see how to do things here at stateside events and come up with...that. lol

No, the UKGT house rules are house rules for the UKGT only unless a tournament organizer decides to utilize those house rules for their tournament too.

The USGT does not use these house rules.

Actually, it doesn't. The ruling is in accordance with the RAW.
