Hmm. I don't know any of the points costs, and I'm not a troll player, but I'll offer my two cents.
I think the first list is a little too beast heavy. You'll likely find yourself dealing with Frenzy fairly often. Also, it lacks anti-infantry punch. I would drop the Impaler and pick up Scatter Gunners. Casting Fortune on them will make them nasty. The Fell Caller makes them really nasty. Just don't lead with them as they aren't that durable.
Grissel doesn't need a lot of Fury in the beginning of the game since she only has 2 spells, and they're both offensive and short-ranged. However, should you lose one of your beasts, she will starve for Fury. My solution would be to swap the Axer for an Impaler, and use the Champions as the spearhead. Keep the ranged beasts behind the the Champs and keep shooting. Only charge weak or isolated targets. By the way, Far Strike is great on the Pyre Troll.
The Champs have your melee offense covered. Make sure you read and understand their Concert rule. And cast Flaming Fists on the last Champion attacking a given target.
Remember that a unit may only be affected by one Fell Call each turn. So no stacking Reveille with Hoof It or what have you.
Finally, I'd say the first list is the way to go. Both of these lists are solid, but using the models you like makes for more enjoyable games. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Doomshaper and Scatter Gunners practically go hand in hand.
