Hi
As a new boy to this forum (but a long time guest reader) I would like to say hello.
i play nids and guard and most recently Deathwing - the appeal of terminators as troops led me to DA and Deathwing. I have just finished building 1500 points as follows:
HQ 1 Belial – storm bolter and sword of silence 130points
HQ 2 Interrogator Chaplain – storm bolter and croz arc 145 points

Squad 1 - serg (storm bolter and power weapon),assault cannon and chain fist, 2x storm bolter and power fist, 1xlightning claws 250 points
Squad 2 – serg (storm bolter and power weapon),assault cannon and chain fist, 2x storm bolter and power fist, 1xlightning claws 250 points
Squad 3 - serg (storm bolter and power weapon),cyclone missile launcher and lightning claws,1xstorm bolter and chain fist,2xstorm bolter and power fist 230 points
Dread 1 - lascannons and missile launcher, venerable 175 points
Dread 2 - lascannons and missile launcher, venerable 175 points
Dread 3 - autocannon,storm bolter and ccw, ven 145 points
Total = 1500 points

So, any thoughts or comments from the experienced guys?

Why a chaplain? You're already fearless, odds are you won't get into assaults with whole squads and you'll probably be charged first anyway.

Since I don't see any drop pods for the dreads, these are starting on the table?

Extra armor should be on those dreads.

The squads look fine to me.

Yup, in general I concur with Stelek. Although Squad 3 should actually be 240 points instead of 230. Your squad compositions look solid, though. I prefer to have at least one assault cannon/heavy flamer Dread for close-in work, but everyone has their own tastes when it comes to Dread loadouts.

What about this - drop the Chaplain (giving you 145 points), the ML on Dread 2, and the chainfist on Squad 3 (for another 5). Take Drop Pods for each Dread. That way, you're not starting with the Dreads on the table.

It still doesn't get you EA on the Dreads, but at least you've got better flexibility in their use and better defense for them coming in.

I would drop the autocannon dread and the Chappy to get one more squad of Termies and extra armour on the ones left. I also prefer LC's on Belial.

This will be a struggle against certain armies (Orks with hidden PK's for sure) but will also perform well against other forces.

Thanks for the input. What about the following as a bit of an improvement?

Drop the Chaplain and one of the dreads and go for a squad of extra men instead

HQ 1 Belial – storm bolter and sword of silence 130points

Squad 1 - serg (storm bolter and power weapon),assault cannon and chain fist,2x storm bolter and power fist, 1xlightning claws 250 points
Squad 2 – serg (storm bolter and power weapon),assault cannon and chain fist, 2x storm bolter and power fist, 1xlightning claws 250 points
Squad 3 - serg (storm bolter and power weapon),assault cannon and chain fist,2x storm bolter and power fist, 1xlightning claws 250 points
Squad 4 - serg (storm bolter and power weapon),cyclone missile launcher and lightning claws,1xstorm bolter and chain fist,2xstorm bolter and power fist 240 points
Dread 1 - lascannons and missile launcher, venerable, extra armour 190 points
Dread 2 - lascannons and missile launcher, venerable, extra armour 190 points
Total = 1500 points

Looks solid. Deathwing's always a challenge to play, but I think this is a pretty solid list.

Its about as solid as you're going to get in a DW list. Those Dreads will be pretty tough with Venerable and the Termies attracting the heavy firepower. I wouldn't DW Assault with this list, instead, use the "Shoot and Scoot" method to out fire your opponent and then beat them down with powerfists and LC's when they get close.
