I'm very excited about 4th edition. I have some friends that are very similar to this guy in that they own many 3.5 books (one of my buddies actually owns ALL the 3.5 books... he's not happy). Hopefully though they'll jump ship when this comes out. Great find mal.

I go through that everytime D&D has updated, and it gets worse every time.
I owned alot of basic D&D, all the core and lots of adventures.
Then I upgraded to 1st Ed, bought everything core, and lots of adventures, even 3rd party stuff.
Gladly upgraded to 2nd ed, and spent all those years buying damn near everything TSR turned out.
I practically cried whn 3rd edition came out. I was going to refuse to play it, untill I actually read it. never touched my 2E books since, other to move them out of the way and occasionally to look at the pictures
3E and 3.5E and the accursed open gaming license was a $30 a week habit for me for about 3 years.
Now 4E.............
Unfortunately for me, I love EVERYTHING I have read about 4E.
On the plus side they've competely revamped the OGL, so it isnt really OGL anymore. There will be almost no 3rd party 4E books for at least 6 months after release, and alot of the companies that have banked on 3E OGL have decided NOT to carry over to 4E.
Sooo, after I buy the 3 core 4E books, there won't be that many new 4E books I'l be interseted in. At least not more than one a month.
My biggest problem now is finding somewhere to store a walls worth of 3e books :(

If it is fun I guess that is more important than tradition. I guess.

Podcast 35mins
The Podcast answers the following questions
How is spell preparation going to work?
Exactly what dice are maximized in critical hits?
How are rogue skills handled?
How will multiclassing be implemented? Will it be flexible?
Do weapons still have a critical threat range? What does the entry “Prof. 2” mean on the weapons table?
How frequently do characters receive feats? Are how are racial feats distinguished?
How is XP calculated?
What’s happening with cleric domains?
Are some creatures still immune to critical hits?
How long will it take to reach level 30?
What’s going to happen with familiars?
Can dragons have minions and henchmen?
Would subraces be distinguished in races or feats?
Will it be possible to solo?
How can characters try to maximize their chances for a critical hit?
How can I play a high- or low-magic campaign?
Why do rogues get sneak attacks?
How can a party function without one of the roles (leader, striker, etc.)?

With all their powers, what will stop PCs from becoming unstoppable killing machines that never need to rest?
What role will my favorite race, the drow, play in 4E?
Will 4E’s ease of DMing leave players feel cheated?
How will the new cosmology affect pantheons in current campaigns?
Beyond characters, what else is/is not convertible between 3.5 and 4th Edition?
Will future books introduce new paragon paths, and destinies? And are there plans for race-specific paragon paths?
What sets humans apart from other races?
What’s happening with holy symbols in 4th Edition?
Can the system handle non-battle gridded encounters?
What can you say about 4E’s magic level system?
Will the mechanic of random hit points gained per level continue, or will this sacred cow finally be sacrificed?
Will extra bonuses to hit be factored in by class, so that melee-based classes remain the combat experts?
How will 4E monsters be adaptable?
Will there be a 4.5?

$62.97 from a reputuabtle dealer with free shipping was as far as I searched.
I can't imagine finding a signifcantly better deal, so I pre-ordered mine already.
The books retail for $34.95 each, so I figured all three for less than the price of two was pretty good.

I'll be running a 4E D&D game this weekend using the above PDFs. I'll post my thoughts on it.
