Just wondering what models of cameras you guys use to take pictures of your miniatures?
I'm looking to buy one, and am not sure which ones are any good.

Been using a Canon PowerShot A560 myself that I got my Cristmass, and had no problems with it. Just make sure you buy a new, bigger memory card, since the one that comes with it only holds some 6 pictures or so.

Wee Solders has an over view of the Cannon G9. If I was in the market for a new camera - this would be the one I would buy.

In general you need a camera with white balance, macro, time delay, and an AV setting. The Cannon Powershot A95 I use is no longer in production, but has all of the above features.

I use a pentax DSLR, but I'm a camera snob

I've always used an slr camera, and when I went digital, I just picked up a digital body for my collection of lenses.

I use manual focus if I"m taking pics on a gaming table at a tourney (tends to be a lot of 'desert tables' and a lack of contrast around here) and auto-focus tends to not work well.

My wife has a compact digital, and I've also used it ( but the controls are in odd positions for me - used to the dial and thumb controls being on the right side around the grip) to get some decent shots.

In addition to a camera with a decent macro setting, a stable platform (tripod or bean bag) and lighting are required for good shots. You can take great shots with a entry level camera if you know what you are doing, but if you don't, not even a top range pro-level DSLR will help.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
