I was just wondering, with the upcoming powerfist nerf, would it be a good choice to give nobz in slugga units big shootas or rokkits? I'm working on a kult of speed list and may try it out along with a kombi-skorcha for my biker boss. The codex says one ork for every ten may replace his slugga or shoota so it's allowed.

For starters I would like to question the legality of such a move: secondly, I'd like to question the benefit. He's no better at shooting than a regular boy, and you're making him worse in combat for no real gain to the unit.

I'm not making him worse in combat because in 5th edition he doesn't get the extra Klaw attack from the slugga.

Ah. Then we're just left with the legality issue. I was (reasonably) certain that it's illegal to give special/heavy weapon upgrades to a squad leader. Otherwise people would be giving veteran sergeants Lascannons and trying to master-craft them.

Oh, you may very well be right seeing as how I don't have much experience with 4th edition rules to begin with. Hopefully someone can come along and clarify this. I think it would be a decent way to get special weapons in a small trukk squad.

It all depends on the wording in the rule book. If it states any model may be give/exchange then yes he could have that. However if it lists boyz in the entries than Nobz can't have them.

I am fairly certain that you cannon give it to them.

Your right, the nob can't be given big shootas.

Regardless Pk's are still far superior and practically required against most opponents. The loss of one pk attack means little going from 5 to 4 pk attacks on a charge isn't a big loss. In the Nobs mob it just means the pk nob gets to carry the combi schorcha.

I was still going to give him the PK, just alongside with the big shoota.

really having a combine weapon in the unit could add more flexibly to what is already a good unit. as for a closecombat unit there something adding a feeling to what is going to be good.

Not in 4th. You could in 3rd, but the changes to the codex made it pretty specific on what upgrades the nob could get.

Pk and slugga is still your best bet to kill MEQ in 5th.
