Subject: 1500 Chaos list I've been goofing around with.

Most of the friendly games around here are around 1500 points, so a few weeks ago I figured I'd dust off my chaos marines that were shelved after the new codex came out. I've tried alot of variations, but this one definately has the most resilience at 1500 pts. I'm still not quite happy with it, but hell. It's chaos. They're not what they used to be.
1500 Pts.
Daemon Prince- Wings, MoS, Warptime
10 Plague Marines inc. Champ w/ Fist
-2 Plasma
10 Plague Marines inc. Champ w/ Fist
-2 Plasma
10 Plague Marines inc. Champ w/ Fist
-2 Melta
2 Oblits
2 Oblits
2 Oblits
I've tried regular marines with MoN in rhinos, but being fearful and no Feel No Pain makes them fizzle out fast. As a xenos player, I laugh at rhinos anyway, so I dropped them. I've tried infiltrating Chosen with plasma, as well as 4 termies with 3 combi-plasma and 1 reaper autocannon. The termie squad is wonderfully cheap, but runs after I fail my leadership tests. I really like having an all Fearless army.
I wish there was a way to fit MoN on the prince, just for theme's sake, but points are already pretty tight. Plus, having initiative 6 is nice. I especially like how Plague marines just shrug off damage. Against Orks and swarm style Nids, it's like walking forward with a brick wall. The list is slow, but I usually deploy with this in mind.
Inputs welcome!

I don't like it simply because of the low model count. As you stated the troops are slow, and as such won't get into combat much, but i'm guessing you really don't care about making it into close combat. I just don't think that many plague marines can do enough damage, when you can almost get another full squad of marine and a half plus three full chaos marine units for the same price. I suck at making 4+ rolls tho, so if you've got better luck this list will be nasty getting all them FNP's (except against guard).

Well, the list is mostly focussed on resiliency (obviously), which I think will help alot with the importance of troops in the next edition. While they are slow, usually by turn 3 it sees combat with something. By that point, I've moved forward enough that it's hard to escape the shooting, and each unit poses a threat. Large squad sizes and fearlessness keeps them moving. They repel assaults really well with blight grenades, and if something serious happens, the prince is there to bail them out.
It's hilarious how people will shoot a squad just enough to take them under half, but there's still 2 plasma/melta guns that get ignored. That and while the 3 squads advance, I'm taking out the high strength shots that ignore the FNP.
Low model count is relative. I'd rather have Fearless T5 3+/FNP than 2 regular marines.

Fair enough, question does the FNP rules still say that after the game any models that made the save count as dead? because i've had mixed responses, some say yes some say no

I don't have my codex with me at work, but I've never heard anything like that. That sounds a bit like Fabius Bile's enhanced marines rules?
Aside from that, anyone got any ideas how to get the list all nurgle? Or am I just going to have to up the list to 1750-1850 for that?

To get all nurgle, you need more points. Especially for a 2nd Demon Prince.
If you plan to drop the oblits, I wouldn't...

Yeah, figures. A second prince in 1500 pts is not worth it imho.
I wouldn't drop the Oblits, they're vital for anti-skimmer/tank/bigstuff/whatever until I can get my PM's in range with their guns. For some reason, people are actually scared of the prince. *Shrug*
I don't really want to make the PM squads smaller, they become less of a threat that way. I had thought about combining the 3 squads into 2, but then I lose 2 special weapons and a fist. And worse, lose out on alot tactics-wise.
Stelek, I know you prefer 2000 pt games, how do the oblits scale? With a predominantly PM list, are 6 heavy weapons enough to get the job done? Units of 3 Oblits aren't great for reasons I'm sure you are aware of.

I've found 6 is enough if you have a 2nd DP and have 4-5 solid troops people can't grind through easily.
Being fearless (in entirety) is very useful.
Yes, my 20+ lascannon army will chop the oblits up.
But I don't have any tanks in that 20 las army. So the oblits deep strike and flame where they can. Or just plasma cannon from range and suck it up (my preference). There are alot of TS coming, who will start killing you on turn 2 and never stop. Same with the EC.
If you run PM, you can ignore the PM and try to down the oblits and the DP before the PM arrive...good luck with your dice rolls cause it's a bad day comin.
Rock, paper, scissors...
