200 pts; 2 squads of Fire Warriors
10 Fire warriors @ 100 pts
10 Fire Warriors @ 100 pts

300 pts HQ
75 Shas'o
12 Fusion Blaster
20 Plasma Rifle
20 Iridium Armor
05 Multi Tracker
132 Pts

2 Body Guards:
1st Bodyguard
35 pts Shas'vre
8 Burst Cannon
4 Flamer
0 Drone Controller
HW Multi Tracker
20 pts 2 Gun Drones
72 Pts

2nd Bodyguard
35 Pts Shas'vre
20 Plasma Rifle
12 missle pod
5 multi-tracker
0 HW Drone Controller
20 pts 2 Gun drones
92
4 Pts Left
Reasoning:
Fire warriors are obvious, I dislike Kroot

HQ I like it is a good mix of high ap woundage with the one bodyguard with the burst cannon and the flamer able to deal with low save mobs
( my playtest experiance has been against Khorne Chaos, and my friend that I will play at some point plays 'nids.
Tell me what you think, I heard someone say burst cannons should never be put on a crisis and i have 4 pts left to change it to a missle pod which would work just as well.

Comments and criticisms more appreciated and encouraged. I work at a library so I read Dakka Forums all day. : /

Missile pods > burst cannons

Why field bodyguards? Why not single elite suits? And why the drones?

A Bonding Knife Shas'ui for the Fire Warriors would be a good investment. It can make a rather large difference in this game size.

Well...I'd drop the iridium armor for sure, especially with a bodyguard. It ruins your mobility and ability to hide. Not really worth it in any way, but if you want to experiment with it at least do it with a solo guy and not really expensive squad of 3.

not sure what the gun drones are for. For the cost of the drones and the iridium armor you can have a whole extra battlesuit.

I'd make the HQ a solo, and then have three solo battlesuits with whatever weapons you want on them. I agree that they shouldn't have burst cannons but I don't think it's the end of the world - some people think my obsession with plasma/missile on every suit is at best boring and at worst a waste of points. You can always stick in some stealth suits instead of crisis if you really want burts cannons.

So

Fire Warriors - fine, if you want them.

HQ:

Shas'el with Fusion, Plasma, Targeting Array, HWMT - 97

Elite:

Crisis suit with Plasma, Missile, MT - 62

3x stealth suits - 90 or 2x Crisis with burst, missle, MT - 100

Crisis suit with TL Missile, flamer- 47

This seems like it would give you a lot more scoring units and the ability to flank or surround your opponent instead of putting all your eggs in one basket. it also gives you two more crisis suits or 3 stealth suits (which is probably better than the gun drones inthe squads). f you really want gun drones you could also just put in a squad of 5 of them instead of one of the burst crisis and maybe a couple fire warriors but then you'd have two non-scoring units.

I thought for 500 Pts you could only take 2 troops and an HQ ^ ^ ;;;;
Ya for sure I could take more I guess
Also thanks for the ideas Lambadomy.
Perfectly fine with going more missle pods and plasma rifles, nice combination of quality and quantity.
Gun drones I thought would be a good diea just for the possible pinning allowing more shots by fire warriors. I haven't playtested gun drones, so thanks for the advice
on just making another crisis or just getting stealth teams.

Quick question why do you say take fire warriors if they're my thing? What would I take instead for two troops choices?

Oh maybe so, I may not have understood the FOC rules. If it's only two troops and an HQ then yeah, you need to do something like what you did.

You should definitely then take the Shas'UI on the firewarrior teams, and maybe even markerlights for them to help the HQ squad or to negate cover.

The HQ squad should still probably not have the gun drones or the iridium armor, and should have more complementary weapons - maybe just all plasma/missile, or plasma/missle, plasma/missle and fusion/missile or burst/missile. You are going to have a lot of str 5 ap 5 from the firewarriors anyway I don't think you need it on the suits.

So maybe:

10 FW + Shas'ui, Target lock, markerlight - 125
10 FW + Shas'ui, Target lock, markerlihgt - 125

HQ

Shas'el with Plasma, Missile, MT, Stimm injector 97
Bodyguard with Plasma, Missile, TA, HW MT - 82
Bodyguard with Fusion, Missile, TA, HW MT - 74

Gun drones are good, but pinning isn't that useful against most armies (too many fearless things). But if you know you're going to fight someone not fearless, go for it! You can always also add gun drones to the FW squads with the Shas'ui

Your only other option instead of Fire Warriors is Kroot, and they're much too fragile for this small a game. Stick with the Fire Warriors.

As for the FOC, it states you must have a minimum of 2 troops and 1 HQ. You could fill out the 3 heavy support slots if you wanted too, aslong as you have the mandatory HQ and 2 troops.

As for the list, as was said before, lose the BCs on the Crisis. Split up the suits too.

Heaven's not a place where you go when you die: it's that moment in life when you actually feel alive, so live for the moment.

I love Kroot, and don't really care for fire warriors, so I'd take one squad of FWs and one or two squads of kroot. it would depend on how much terrain was going to be on the board though, because as Moose said they're pretty fragile. They're better as a support unit. Maybe not appropriate for such a small points game.

As Moose says, 1 HQ 2 Troops is a minimum. lambadomy's first list looks pretty solid. I'd give it a go and see how you find it.

Awesome! Thanks everyone!
my only question would be if I'm allowed heavy in a 500 pt game why not a single broadside and a couple crisis suit?
Just too much? ALso why the shas'ui markerlight?

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

missile pods > everything.

Well, the Broadside may not have much to shoot at in a 500 pt battle! It is not unlikely that there will be no suitable target, since his railgun has no second mode. Either that or he will have something like a lone medium tank of some sort which he will pop with ease, and your opponent will call you cheesy for bringing a railgun to such a small game. Crisis suit weaponry is just more flexible and useful at this level, I think.

FYI, I was referring to lambadomy's earlier list, which didn't have markerlights in it.

yeah...I also wouldn't use the list with the markerlights...I only put that in because hey, you thought you needed to use 500 points in two troops and an HQ, why not...LD 8 and something to beef up the shooting of your crazy 250 point HQ, why not. The other list with three elites is obviously better

A single broadside wouldn't be a bad choice, but a regular crisis suit is probably better. Even on a 4x4 table, 500 points is pretty small. Mobility is king in small point games with any kind of cover.
