Stalwart Dark Angels Space Marine

Well guys i am in the middle of a debate here with myself. I am building a Dark Angels army. I am going to build a sucessor chapter. It will be either the Angels of Vengance or the Angels of Absolution. I know what my basic layout for the army is so I am not asking a question about that what I want to know is out of the Two HQs below which would be more battle effective. So here it goes.
Company Master 120pts (Power Weapon, Storm Bolter, Iron Halo, Bolt Pistol, Frag and Krak grenades) The reason I would take him is he is probably the best buy in the codex. Compare to a regular Space Marine Commander he is. A regular Space Marine Comander with the same stuff costs 123 pts and he only get 4 attack when he charges with a storm bolter while the DA Commander gets 5 because he has a extra CCW with the bolt pistol. The reason I would take him is his Rites of Battle. This is very usefull.
My other choice is Ezekiel at 170pts. I would change his name to something else. For all of you who don't know his profile looks like this. (Master Crafted Force Weapon, Master Crafted Bolt Pistol, Frag and Krak Grenades, Aritficer Armor, Book of Salvation, Psychic Hood). He also has 3 psychic powers and he is the only librarian available to DA with Ld 10. He doesnt' really cost too much . The main thing with him is in Tourneys you seem to run into a lot of psychic stuff and the Ld 10 psychic hood would be very valuable. Another thing is that anything within 12 inchs of him is Fearless. This would be very useful for my army because I have more of a gun line.
Side note: I know that some of you are opposed to running Special Charectors and that is fine. I just want your opinion on which would be more combat effective. Thanks.

I'd opt for Ezekiel because in tournaments you may encounter lash DPs, Runeprophets, and SM Librarians.
The psychic hood is very useful to disrupt enemy plans.
The Company Master is not really worth the points.

Librarian, definitely. Sure he's a few extra points, but psh whatever. his abilities and wargear make up for that by a lot. does he have and invul though?

What's the rest of your list look like? That'll help determine what is the best choice for you.

HQ: Yet to be determined. Elite: Vet Squad @ 250pts (2 Power Fist, 1 Power Weapon, 1 Flamer) Rhino @ 35pts Scout Squad @ 195pts (10 Sniper Rhifles) Troops: Tac Squad @ 215pts (1 Plasma Gun, 1 Missle Laucher, 1 Power Fist) Rhino @ 35pts Tac Squad @ 215pts (1 Plasma Gun, 1 Missle Laucher, 1 Power Fist) Rhino @ 35pts Tac Squad @ 215pts (1 Plasma Gun, 1 Missle Laucher, 1 Power Fist) Rhino @ 35pts Heavy Support: Dev Squad @ 285pts (2 Las Cannons, 2 Plasma Cannons) Dev Squad @ 225pts (4 Heavy Bolters) Whirlwind @ 85pts Basically I am going to have a lot of fire power. I will use the combat squad rule to split all my fire power up. Probably not the Heavy Bolter Squad. I know that I could probably run the same list cheaper with SM but there codex is going to be changed at the end of this years and I like the DA.

Like I said before I think the Librarian would do much better in this list than the force commander, just because fury of the ancients is so nice for gun lines.

DA can't get Fury of the Ancients, they have their own psychic powers. That being said, I'd actually take Sammael on a Speeder. He provides Rites of Battle and gives you some powerful shooting. For 35 more points you get an AV 14 speeder with a BS5 TL assault cannon and TL heavy bolter. That thing'll never miss.
The problem I see with a Librarian is that there really isn't a place for him. Its nice to have a LD 10 psychic hood, but to not use the rest of his powers is a bit of a waste. If you want a LD 10 hood, take an inquisitor.

Oh well if you don't get anything like fury of the ancients then forget it. take the force commander.

Aren't DA Libs limited to LD9 except for the special characters, like the BA? I don't have my codex handy to check, sadly.
I'd take belial or sammael before I took anyone else in a DA list myself. Even not one based on DW or RW.

Sammael for the win. He is really the best choice you have.

Generic DA libbies are LD 9, Ezekiel, whom the OP is looking at taking, is LD 10 but not customizable at all.
General rule, Libbies are good in Drop Pods where Hellfire can really be powerful or in Termie armor deep striking for the same reason.
I've given up playing anything but Sammael as my main HQ, a libby makes a good second HQ in a big game.

If you're planning on using Combat Squads I'd suggest taking the Company Master for the Rites of Battle, and then maybe a cheap (Ld9) Librarian for the psychic support. I have an army configured to play as either Blood Angels or Chaos Marines, with my strategy based around shooting, and I find the combination of a Captain and a Librarian good enough to suite my needs. The Captain is the necessity though, so whatever Combat Squads show up that game aren't so vulnerable to pinning, morale, and target priority (very important with shooting). The Librarian is just handy though, just enough to provide some defense and support without breaking the bank.

I think that you guys are right. I will probably take the Commander. I won't take Samuel though. I do like to stick to the fluff in most cases and he should only be used in a Ravenwing list and I don't have and Ravenwing in my army. So. Thanks for all the advice.
