Say I am a power gamer (which I am) and I want to win with Chaos in a competitive environment. What would you do to improve this list?

2 Lash sorcs

2 squads of 5 plauge marines with double plas and a champ with P fist

3 sqauds of 5 plaugers with double plas

3 squads of 3oblits.

1700pts exactly.

I decided on sorcs over DPs because DP's can be targeted while sorcs cant be.

Plaugers are pretty good at taking charges with blight grenades and a few squads with fists are good for counter assault if I can't just lash the enemy away.

Lots of ap2 fire power lots of str 7 and str 9 anti armor.

The main problem is the low model count. But I have looked and looked and I can not find troops that I am more happy with than plaugers.

Any advice?

You don't need so many special weapons. Those small squads will be swamped in both shooting and close combat.

Just my opinion.

Looks solid enough. I would personally skip the fist-champions since they are so expensive and try to get in a small squad of terminators.

Why 5 man tho, isnt an even number so much better for scoring units? Same for obliterators, most lists run them in 2 and 2, so they are harder to get VPs from.

A bit low model count but they can take more then twice the damage then ordinary MEQs so its good enough.

By the way, do you run wings on the sorcs or what is the plan?

So the answer to your topics question is:

2 lash sorcerors with wings.

2 nine man PM squads with meltas/flamers.

4 five man NM squads with blastmasters.

3 two man oblit squads.

PM squads guard the sorcerors as they advance.

Lash into 'oooh template me!' formation.

Hit with 2xblastmaster templates and 2xplasmacannon templates (both small blast). Watch whatever it was, die.

Repeat on 2nd unit.

Repeat each turn until enemy punches you in face.

Then switch to bolters and lascannons.

Again odd numbers.. why? Always use even numbers so pepole have to kill extra to get the VPs.

Let me count the number of tournaments I'll be playing in that are affected by the faq.

Ok I'm done counting!

Yeah, that FAQ is a joke when even Gav himself said it was just normal movement. Wonder how they will implement it in action when someone moves in "aproximatley" the same formation.. Also, the real gw tournament namely GT uses it as a normal move.

Anyway, that is up to the diffrent tournaments you play and since the guy obviously want lash lists I guess he is playing in something that uses the real rules.

But still, why run odd numbers in the squads? You will need to kill 4 marines to get VPs and reduce it from scoring if you run 6 man squads. (unless you gonna play 5th ed PDF rules in wich case units score untill the last man)

Oh only because he was running min sized squads anyway.

Plague marines don't mix well with lash. I've found EC and TS mix best. EC/oblits kill the big chunks, TS finish the scraps off.

If he really wanted to, he could drop 1 EC squad and pump up his numbers.

If you face an army weak to the lash, you'll want the 4th EC squad (because you should win).

If you don't face such an army, you'll probably want the 4th squad for the 4th missile launcher anyway.

The EC blast really works wonders on open topped vehicles, always has. It just works marines over too now.

I second Stelek, the EC/TS combo is more compatible with lash HQs.
Take a few EC squads, footslogging with blastmaster and Rhino mounted with doom siren (AC with power weapon), supported by one TS unit.
