Subject: 1000 competitive Eldar: I can't find a list I feel comfortable with

Due to comp rules, I can only have 1 hq/heavy/fast/elite per two troops.
Yriel- 155
5 Harlequins- 110
-5 Kisses
3 bikes- 76
-Shuricannon
10 dire avengers- 120
serpent- 165
-spirit stones, vectored engines, bright lance
7 Warp Spiders- 171
-Exarch with 2 death spinners
Falcon- 195
-Shuricannon, Upgraded Shuricannon, Spirit Stones, Holo Field, V Engines
Yriel rides with the harlies, but perferably charges a seperate unit. If he does charge with them, he leaves the squad so the harlies can hit and run. Main anti tank comes from the wave serpent, but that seems wishy washy at best.
The other list I was thinking about:
Avatar- 155
6 Harlequins- 162
-6 Kisses, shadowseer
3 bikes- 76
-Shuricannon
10 dire avengers- 120
6 Path Finders- 144
7 Warp Spiders- 171
-Exarch with 2 death spinners
Fire Prism- 170
-upgraded shuriken cannon, spirit stones, holofield
I think I like this list more. It's shootier, the AT is more reliable, and it has more scoring units; but it is slower. I also own all of it...

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism." -Hermann Goering (high ranking Nazi)

"main anti-tank comes from the Serpent" = you lose, unless maybe you are spamming Serpents.
I don't know what to say about these lists. They are kinda like WD or back-of-the-codex lists: toss in random units, preferably one from each role (AT, assault, etc.) and call it an army. That's fine, but it's not the best way to tip the balance in your favour. It will crumble against an army with an actual plan.
Maybe you could post a lsit of what you have to work with?

@tegeus-Cromis
you sir... are a stinker.
B)
You did read that he had some comp restrictions right?
"Due to comp rules, I can only have 1 hq/heavy/fast/elite per two troops."
@OP
It would help if you would post what you have available
The first list has a lot more potential honestly. However I would try and find another way to include some AT as tegeus-Cromis pointed out... the serpent is NOT enough.

He has more AT than the serpent.
Pulse laser on falcon
warp spiders
rending.
He could try and add a warlock on a bike with a spear and drops some dire avengers.

I like the first list better. It's more mobile, and more able to deal with varied threats. I'd say a bike seer with spear and Mind War would be better than Yriel at this points-level. You would have change left over to add a Harlie, too.
The bike Seer would up your anti-tank (which isn't really that bad for 1k points). The BLs on the Serpent actually have a good chance to be effective if you hid behind terrain, then swoop out for a shot. And as fenrik points out, the Spiders and Pulse laser will help a lot. It's not like 2 Land Raiders are likely in 1000- but 3 Russes might be. in that case, your maneuverability will aid you, since the game will really be about blowing up the tanks anyways.

Of course I read it, paidinfull. Those restrictions don't change my comments. Just because you can't mindlessly go tri-Falcon and tri-Dragon/Harlie doesn't mean you have to turn your army into a travelling circus. Focus is still possible.
frenrik, sure, but my point is more that if you're ever relying on Wave Serpents to kill stuff for you (and the OP stated that this was the case), you have a nasty shock coming more often than not. Unless you field a 6 WS army like some do.

Smaller point games give Wraithlords a nice edge with less things in opposing armies that can deal with them effectively. They also give you flexibility for combat with units that can't deal with them because of thier high toughness. 1 Falcon getting sniped in a lucky shot and your down a quarter of your points.

Approximately what I've got:
Avatar
too many farseers/warlocks (sigh)
Eldrad
Maugan Ra
12 harlequins with kisses + countless without (sigh again)
10 dragons
20 scorpions
10 banshees
20 guardians
3 bikes
10 dire avengers
5 wraithguard
8 warp spiders
15 rangers
3 dark reapers
2 vibro cannons
2 Prisms
2 Falcons
3 Wave Serpents
1 Wraithlord
17 kroot with 6 hounds
As you can see, I did most of my buying for the third edition codex. I would really like to buy more bikes but I have no money to spend on 40k right now. I did just win the Warmachine league at my LGS though, so if it's a store credit prize, then I can pick some up.
The comp rules really suck too. I thought about splitting the dire avengers into two so I could get a second heavy, but I would need the avatar to do that so they don't run. I hate comp rules because they always end up giving some armies an advantage. Like orks or marines with these rules have no problem. 4 las/plas or a bunch of trukk mobs. Eldar have a much harder time --at least in 1000-- in larger games, there's enough room to have a lot of troops, but still cover all the tactical bases.
What about this:
Avatar- 155
6 harlequins- 162
-6 kisses, shadowseer
6 Fire dragons- 113
-exarch with dragon's breath and crack shot
3 bikers- 76
-shuricannon
3 bikers- 76
-shuricannon
5 dire avengers- 60
5 dire avengers- 60
Falcon- 195
-x2 shuricannons, holo field, stones, vectored engines
2 Vibro Cannons- 100
I'd feel bad taking 2 holo-tanks in 1000 points, especially with 'minimum' troops, so don't even suggest it. I know that will win me more games, but I'm also not looking to lose friends. I'm tempted to drop the exarch from the dragons to get a death jester. I know thats not normally a good idea, but in 1000 points, a BS4 pinning shuricannon can go a long way.

The DA squads have a small impact.
I'd delete them and take another Jetbike squad and some more Harlies (as they are obviously footslogging).

Thanks for reading the first line of my first post.
If I were to drop the dire avengers --wich I agree won't have much impact-- not only would I not be able to take more harlies, I'd have to drop them all.
It also probably would be a good idea as well to drop the dragon exarch to change the dire avengers into jetbikes, but that is far out of my fiscal standing right now.
I'm still very interested in comments on the list, even if they're more 'that list is gakky' posts. Preferably they'll be accompanied with suggestions.

With the restrictions you're under (comp and $$$), I don't see any tweaks you could make without totally changing your list. There are no small things you can juggle there.
However: are you guys playing with Escalation as a possibility? If so, V-cannons are a gamble. They are practically useless if you get hit with Escalation.

what do you think of dropping the snakes/plane and the vibros to get 2 prisms and some guardians? One of the prisms would be naked --OK: it has spirit stones, but thats like saying 'I'm not naked because I'm have a shirt on'. Just hear me out.
It's the first time I'll be playing at a store with some guys I've argued a lot with over tactics, so I need to 'prove myself', but the list can't be too rough, so my wins can't be chalked up to a cheesy list.
The under clad prism hangs in the back, using it's range and also the pretty high big things saturation as a defense. It's also not like a smf av12 extra armor tank in easy to kill either. To boot, it's only 125 points, so no biggie if it goes down.
One thing I can't decide on is the the weapon to give the guardians. They're in the list to support the dire avengers as much as for their support gun. So I can't decide if I want a shuricannon and more bodies, a traditional scatter laser, or a BL/EML to give the prisms a bit more freedom.
