yeah i know hobby shops, but the ones ive been to not only not stock it, they've never heard of it, so does any one know where i can get some??? i live around north brisbane.

my local stores carry both, but these are the 2 main companies. check out their websites and see if theres any local info for you. if all else fails, try ebay.

Try calling hobby shops that specialize in railroad train
stuff.

Most hardware/home improvement stores sell cheap signs, of the "For Sale" or "Beware of Dog" variety. I've used those for a while now as a cheap source of 0.4mm-0.3mm styrene.

This is such the way to go, other than internet purchase, that I'll second it. A good model train shop will have a bunch of different plasticard options- different thicknesses, different surfaces other than plain (diamond plate, tread plate, brick, etc.) and also other handy plastic modeling goodies you didn't even know you needed- tubes and rods, girders, lengths of crisscrossed support beam, etc. all in various sizes.
