Ok... I think i got hosed in a tournement this past weekend. I was running the Farsight bodygaurd of doom and it was ruled against me twice that the bodyguard does not count as a scoring unit. I have to take issue with this on a few reasons...

1. it states in the BBB on page 51 under the "retinue" heading that retinues are a unit.

2. BBB page 85 on the "scoring unit chart" states that non vehicle units are scoring units but IC's are not.

3. BBB page 86 under "units with distinct elements" states that for victory points are awarded for the distindt parts of a unit. An example is given with a n IC who has a command squad. You break the points apart seperately for the two distinct parts.

So... going with those three statements would the bodyguard attached to farsight count as a scoring unit while farsight himself does not give any points since he is an IC. If not, please give citation where i can find that.

Thanks.

You are completely correct and I don't understand how they could rule against you.

We ruled in the INAT FAQ exactly as you state.

Thanks... Hindsight being what it is, I thought I was right and this has been nagging me for the past few days. I will be taking this up with the guys running the event. They are a great staff at the store but the more I see them and their interpretations of the way things work, the more I lose confidence in them. Maybe it is that great cultural difference I have heard about between the american players and the british players with the brits being more laid back, since said staff is mostly british... in Texas... go figure.

I really have noone but myself though to blame for this... I just have not played enough of 4th edition, only 16 games since it came out in 2004. Combine that on going to a tourny on 3.5 hours sleep after a 12 hour work day(nite) and well... mistakes on my part will be made.

What section is that covered in in the INAT? I was tearing through that thing on the way to work tonite and before I posted this but could not find it in the one I printed?

Crikey, it sounds like you would have been Dog-tired too!

Bummer on the hosing rule mate.

Kudos on the effort it took to compete after a work night like that.

Could the decision be reversed and bump you up the victory ladder?

@ Akira - Doubt it on apealing the results. This was just a free entry store tourney at my local GW. Besides... I am still lucky just to get a chance to play. My work schedule makes it really hard to get games in because i am pretty much exactly 12 hours off from everyone else. Conveneiently also on the one day that i do have off that I would have a really good chance of getting into the store to actually get some games in without the Girlfriend breathing down my neck they are closed. It is even worse for me and trying to find people to play Warmachine with.

@ Yakface - Thanks for the location of that. Te INAT really is an incredible piece of work, but the denseness of info it it can make it a little daunting at times.
