Oh crap, a baneblade! Must remind self to bring more bright lances to Gladiator.

All I see is:

Some ig stuff, some ig stuff, HUGE POINTS SINK, some ig stuff.

Sorry I can't really be more helpful, this looks like a apococraptic army type and I don't know much about it except 'oh boy, eldar gonna have a field day'.

Normally I would have said the Baneblade was a points sink, but since all super heavies now us the Apoc rules this throws a wrench into the gears. It is hard to discount a giant template each turn and the new superheavy damage tables make the beast a bit more survivable. Brightlances are still 36" range and the Adepticon Gladiator scenarios have a way of punishing all mech armies.

In making the list I would ask the following questions:

1. Can I engage an enemy hidden across the table?

2. Do I have enough bodies to hold an objective that says only wounds count?

3. Can I get across the battlefield?

4. Do I have a chance against the hardest hitting HtH unit(s).

Succesful Gladiator lists can outshoot some lists and out assault the ones they can't outshoot. They can also get a decent chunk of their army into the enemy deployment zone over 4-6 turns and don't rely on one type of unit.

If you can succesfully answer those questions then you have the makings of a good Gladiator army. Now realise that it is all about matchup's and securing not only the win, but a huge win each time to secure maximum battle points each round.

I'll be interested in seeing how the Valkrye does. Flyers are typically dynamite in Apoc games, so this could be awesome.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Darth, I answered your questions.

In making the list I would ask the following questions:

1. Can I engage an enemy hidden across the table? Yes.

2. Do I have enough bodies to hold an objective that says only wounds count? Possibly.

3. Can I get across the battlefield? Absolutely

4. Do I have a chance against the hardest hitting HtH unit(s). GK Termies can help, but I hope to shoot the threats first.

Do you concur?

I say go for it. Why not most of the time you dont use the thing.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

Just an FYI. I added the seraphim. I forgot to list them when I posted it this morning. I have edited the post to include them.

So here is what I like:

You have a good bit of shooty mixed with a decent amount of assault.

The Baneblade is good for one thing and one thing only, taking fire. I would not count on it living more than 3 turns in the Gladiator tournament. This will how ever pull fire away from your more vulnerable squads.

The Grey Knights and Seraphim are a nice choice to give support to your list.

Here is what I don't like.

You don't have nearly enough S8+ AP 2 weapontry. There will be a large amount of tyranid monstrosities there if last year's tournament is any indication of what will be brought there.

What do you do about podding marines w/ 2 librarians and FotD? There is nothing in the list that will save a good chunk of your HW squads if they drop in and say hi.

What I would change.

Get rid of the chimera on the JO squad and give both squads Las cannons

Give sharp shooter to the final HW squad.

Loose the plasma guns and get meltas. They will help out in the long run against Supper Heavies and Tyranid Monstrosities. The unit has the ability to get close enough to them to make those weapons effective.

Thanks for the input. I don't have enough Str8+ AP2 weapons? I have 12 by my count. I have a hood on the GK termie squad to help out with FoD. I may drop the chimera, but I like the fact that I have the ability to move units into position. I will take your advice and make one unit of grenadier with meltaguns.
