Ok... I have been running the following list in the past two tournies I have played in. In both instances the games have almost always been very close, but not quite there for it to be called successful. It's recors out of 6 games is W1/L3/T2. Two of the losses were also VERY close to being ties but close still means a loss. So... the question would be what would you do to keep the spirit of the list but improve on it.

The general idea behind it is set the broadsies and hamerheads up in the back and have everything else kind of slowly go forward picking up some momentum as the enemy thins out some. The biggest under preformers I have noticed are the two single crisis suits with the special issue guns. I am just not finding myself getting any substantial kills with them because most everything I run into is meq/teq... very little geq. There are a few options I have thought about.

1. Drop the two single suits with the remaining point already there I have 135 and that would give me enough to repeat the 2 man fire knife squad.

2. Drop the two single suits, spend 120 point to bring the teo fire warrior squads to full strength, and figure out someplace to spend the last 15 points... maybe a seeker missle on the railhead, and 5 points somewhere.

3. Drop the two singles, get another min FW team like the two there for 90, throw an extra guy into each FW squad bringing them to 7 each and then maybe a seeker on the railhead.

4. Drop the singles, and get a 4 man barebones stealth team maybe with a fusion blaster... but each time I take a casualty it will force a break check.

5. Something totally different... just what?

So what would you do?

I've never been a fan of minimum or small squad sizes. In this case you have a few single suits who probably end up shooting at the same target anyway. I reccomend consolidating the two shas'vre into a single squad, as well as the fire warriors. If you have the suits bonded you don't worry about failing a morale check. As you yourself said, you've noticed a failing here. I also always advise against mixing weapons within a team, stick to fireknife and they are at their most effective or go with gun drones and burst cannon/flamer or TL Burst cannon for troop killing.

Alternatively you can grab the stealth team.

What on earth do solo suits need bonding knives for?

Everyone who has access to the wargear section can get one for free so Armybuilder just automatically applies it.

It's a Farsight list.

It takes the best features of the Tau list, and throws them out the window and in it's place you get crap.

There's not much you can do to mitigate this. Why you'd want to run Farsight is beyond me.

This is a typical bad GW Studio no effort design army list that just takes away options, changes one thing, and calls it a new exciting army variant.

When really, it's just sh*t.

Sorry.

There is pretty much only one reason to run a farsight list. It looks damned cool when you set that many crisis suits out on the table.

My usual Tau army has as many or more crisis suits than alot of the farsight armies do though.

But Farsight is good at close comb....

Sorry, can't say it with a straight face.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Heh... yeah... his ever so impressive close combat ability. I actually tried charging with him on the last turn of the last game I played with him. While I didnt die and did not lose enough to bring him under strength... i do not think I will ever try charging with him again unless it is against GEQs... and even then I might think about it alot before doing it.
