Do you have the capability to set up a finite reputation currency? Would
be interesting if people could mark a post for relevance.

We do, but it is pretty low priority as we still have a lot of cool new features that we are working on first. Features on the same scale as the articles system

You mean something like Digg? The slowed ass method in which a very vocal minority can direct how worthwhile a member is?
No thanks.

Again, it is still a way off but it will likely be only one 'vote' per person.
So you'd be able to say whether you 'prefer' or 'do not prefer' any given user.
Kind of like a more moderate version of the friend/ignore function.

It's just more information on a user. Why do we keep track of post counts? No reason except its fun for many people to keep track of what kind of contribution has been made by a user to the forum.
A 'prestige' system where you can make one vote to 'prefer' or 'do not prefer' would give that user a Prestige rating that gives a quick snapshot of how well respected that user is to the forum at large, regardless of how many posts they've made (or haven't made).
The fact that you can only vote for each person once (although you can go back and change your vote at any time) reduces the ability of a small minority of users tanking someone's 'prestige' just because they don't like them.
The system could also theoretically be used in an eventual thread ranking system, where the poster's prestige ratings are one factor automatically taken into consideration.

-=Edit=- Edited for clarity. Also, FishMonk, please be clearer in your questions; a single question mark in a post seems like spam. Thank you. - Iorek
