Always been a big fan of the Space Wolves. I love the fluff and the fact that they are different from normal marines. I guess the idea of a tacticle squad with 2 powerfist won me over a couple of years ago. You dont see many lists for them anymore though. I was wondering what you guys thought. Any improvements that would help. I like to keep it a more close combat list though.

Drop pods are what you are missing. Rhino rushes do not work.

I wont play a drop pod army. I'd need drop pods for every unit and I'm not good at converting, nor am i going to shell out that kind of money to add to a already finished army.

Plus I just hate the whole drop pod army theme anyway.

So play the SW army, then toss it in the bin.

You will want smoke with the rhinos. Drive up, pop smoke, soak it up (while they ignore your preds and dread), then get out. After that use the rhinos to create fire lanes.

Cool as they are, I would probably get rid of the scout squad and bump up the other squads to 10. You have enough anti-tank.

And the lord could really use a bike, possibly un-wolfy though that may be.

Not everyone wants to win all the time man. I prefer to play a army I like and enjoy my games. I hate drop pods and will never play them. I hate playing against them. So I'll leave my guys as foot sloggers and just play for fun. Thanks anyway.

Smoke works. I'll try and fit that in some where.

I have a wolf lord on a bike, but he draws too much attention. 6 str 5 attacks at I5 and a 24' boost really makes people want to shot him...

I toss the lord in with a Hunters pack or the Blood Claws. He can jump in the rhino and i dont have to attach him. Gives me more options once i drop them for an assault.

The wolf scouts are just a filler really. You cant really add anything to a wolf army once your 100 pts close to the total. Sometimes they work wonders and just cleave through something, and others they just pop a tank from behind on turn 2-3 and make their points back.. After that I really dont care what happens to them.

I don't mind losing. It's more fun to lose if you usually win all the time (which gets tedious, just like losing all the time does).

My point is, space wolf foot sloggers eat it from everybody.

Shoot long fangs dead. 5 guys only. Check.
Shoot everything else. Check.
Assault space wolf scouts with a character. Check.
Win. Check.

It's drop pod because it's boring to lose every game.

If you want to make a SW themed army, just run them as one of the other chapters (BA, BT, or DA) or vanilla marines (changing soon) and you'll be much happier.

I don't like drop pods either, I had a Legion of the Damned army but it was removed from the game and I had to make do with 'em. SW fit better, so I use their rules.

You want a foot slogging army using SW models that will be fun for YOU (unless abuse is your thing, then nvm) then use another ruleset.

As a wolves player i'm going to have to agree with stelek on the rhino rush. You need something like a land raider to attract fire in the middle of the battle while you use rhinoes (or in my case a rhino and a speeder) to flank them and take out fire support.

Only the unit assigned to a rhino can ride in it. So unless the lord is attached, its not possible (hence the reason I use a land raider)

Oh and you need more men in each squad
