Hello fellow Dakkadakka-ers. I write to you all as I have come to the end of my rope with the IG. I am tired and, worst of all, bored of playing them. The monotonous game plan of setup, shoot, get charged and run away needs to be changed up.

My game group currently has Eldar, Dark Eldar, Marines & Chaos armies playing. Of the remaining armies out there, which is the most fun to play?

I have heard that about the Orks. I'll give them a shot. Do you have a recommended army list for a 1500 point battle?

So, I'm guessing Tau and Necrons are out, then, as they're both pretty one dimensional? While those armies don't have much variety, at least they're fairly mobile to keep things more interesting.

Orcs will be strong and are a nice mix, especially as your current group doesn't have a horde-type army. Of course, that means you have to spend a lot of $ getting all those models (and painting them all).

Tau and Eldar may feel the pain of the new rules. So many players are going to do Orks that your head will spin. Clearly you need to be subjected to the Inquisition!!!

That is to say, go out and buy TWO landraiders. Buy the Codex Daemon Hunters, or is it Inquisition. At any rate, see Stelek's recent IG army post. You use the Landraiders with Inquisitors as your HQ. Back with 3 LR tanks. Now you have a tournament legal Tank Company type army!!! Add Hellhounds. Tanks may actually improve significantly under the new rules.

Never change armies in the middle of a rule change cycle....

i agree with mikeguth.
dont give up your army, just accessorize it. you can add either the demonhunters or the battlesisters. if you choose either you will have a plethora of new minis you can use and you can back them both up with forces from the IG. i think you can do this with spacewolfes but i am not sure. i have messed around with battlesisters and i can tell you this. they have some really great stat lines, the models are pretty awsome...who can complain about nuns with guns, and they have some really fun melee combatants like the flaggelents and the sisters repentia. i also play nids, orks and marines. nids and orks are both very viable melee based armies but can be tooled out to be shooty as well. enjoy...

Thanks for all of the support. I'm not planning to give up my army (we go back a long ways). I just want to play games where I can ATTACK! I'll check out the suggestions above and not turn against the Emperor.

I usually play 1500 point matches, what other suggestions do people have to make the IG take the fight to the enemy?

to take the fight to the enemy? i dunno really, never thought about doing that with my IG, they just kinda sit and wait to react to enemy moves. for IG they have only two real non shooting in your face units, ogryns, and rough riders. both are alright, but not great. another option is use drop troops and take vet squads and/or special weapon squads. those can really act as "poof! i'm here and i have nasty guns"

for another army that may fit your desire to be up in your opponents face could be witch hunters. take assassins and/or arco falgellants, which just wipe the floor in CC. then your have the inquisitor or sisters to back up your firing, but they have few long ranged weapons, so they will be getting an aggressive edge to your list where you;ll be forced to push them at the enemy in order to do decent amounts of damage at range.


whatever you decide I'm sure it'll be to your liking, just so long as you put plenty f forethought into it.

If you go Witch Hunters, use some of your Imperial Guard models to supplement the WH's crappy range with some good ol' fashioned Lascannons.
