I am building a succesor Chapter and i was wondering what you guys thought of the list. I am building and army from the DA codex because I like the fluff and the ability to split into combat sqauds. So here it goes.
HQ:
Commander 115 (Power weapon and everything else he gets in the Codex)
Grey Knight Teminator Squad 6 @ 336 (Psycannon, Hero has Psychic hood)
Elites:
Scout Squad 10 @ 195 (10 Sniper Rhifles)
Troops:
Tac Squad 10 @ 215 (1 Lascannon, 1 Power Weapon, 1 Plasma Gun) Rhino @ 35
Tac Squad 10 @ 215 (1 Lascannon, 1 Power Weapon, 1 Plasma Gun) Rhino @ 35
Tac Squad 10 @ 215 (1 Lascannon, 1 Power Weapon, 1 Plasma Gun) Rhino @ 35
Heavy:
Dev Squad 10 @ 285 (2 Lascannons, 2 Plasma Cannons)
Dev Squad 10 @ 225 (4 Heavy Bolter)
Whirlind @ 85
Total 1991
The basic concept of this army is to just lay back and shoot. The ability to break into combat squads allows to shot at several different targets and not overkill will be a big asset. I took the Commander for his leadership 10 and the Grey Knight fulfill 3 different battle roles. 1) The will give me a Psychic hood 2) They are a good hand to hand unit 3) They add more fire power to the list. I was going to take DA vets as my counter attack unit but I went with the grey knight terminators instead.
The reason i took the Rhinos is in case i need to get to an objective quickly or if playing a hordes player through the rhinos at a flank to slow them down. If i droped the Rhinos I would probably take 5 more scouts with Sniper Rhifles or I would drop a Grey Knight terminator and take a 5 man Vet Squad with either lascannon and Plasma. I don't know. I will have to see. If 5 edition rumors are true then I will take the 5 man scout with sniper rhifle seeing as the sniper rhifle will become a rendering weapon.
So what do you think.

I'd suggest dumping the Grey Knights and take a Librarian and Deathwing Terminators instead.
If you're just planning on sitting back and shooting, you'll throw quite a few games, or at least all of those involving capturing objectives.

Yeah, drop the Grey Knights, take some Deathwing and also change the Power Weapons to Power Fists. With the Rhinos and Termies, you aren't entirely static if you need to move.

You were right in 3rd edition. In 2nd edition, they couldn't ally with any non-human (including abhumans) armies and in 4th edition there are no restrictions.

Agree. Especially Grey Knights who if they suspected even the smallest hint of deception would be all over the DA. Let them just catch a glimpse of a watcher and it's over. To many possibilities for things to go bad fluff wise.

This is a more solid list I think and fits the DA fluff better. I gave the commander a jump pack so that he could quickly get to one side of the battle line or the other to help in hand to hand. I took the DA vets because they are awesome and the will provide some good counter attack posibilities and they have a lot of good hand to hand weapons.

I'd put the Plasma Cannons with the Tac Squads and the Lascannons with the Devs. That way the Tac Sqaud will be better equipped to deal with infantry of all sorts and the Devs can target tanks and big monsters.
Maybe it might also be worthwhile to throw a power fist and a melta gun or flamer into one of the TAC squads for a bit of extra close combat punch.
I'd also ditch the Vets in a Rhino and Put in an Assault squad to work with your commander.

I'd second the Assault squad, and putting the Plasma Cannons in your Tactical squads. Plasma Cannons and either Melta Guns or Flamethrowers will give them more punch if their job is to move up and help the Veteran or Assault squad capture an objective.

The Master/Captain with a power fist will get owned in CC versus other HQ that strike at higher initiative... plus enemy troopers can hit him first and drop a wound or two to help kill him. G

I use the assault terminator lightning claws... it can work with power armor. Anyways I think DA veterans are a much better choice than Grey Knights. G

The Grey Knights were included for a psychic hood, more shooting and a very solid counter assault unit. A nice touch but maybe not as fluffy as say a Deathwing terminator squad. I don't think the Ordo Malleus would have a problem with the watchers since they are xenos... not if they turned out to be little nurglings that could be a problem but I don't see that as being the case.

If the Commander is going to join the Veterans you should ditch the Jump Pack and Lightening Claws. A Power Fist and a Storm Bolter will suit him better then.

I don't know about that. I do agree about ditching the jump pack so he can ride with the vets, but I'd keep the LC's. You already have 2 fists in that vet unit, the LC's get to use the Master's superior I.

I guess I'm worried about the Master clearing out the kill-zone and leaving the Power Fist wielding models out of it by the time they attack. Sure, he's an Independent Character which will limit his impact on the over-all kill-zone, but it does require some finesse in the movement phase to make sure that the hard-hitters are all engaged and not tripping over each other.

He only has 5 attacks on the charge, he'll likely kill 3 MEQ's with the LC's, I don't think that will clear the kill zone. But you are right that he'll need to be careful in the assault move. I've had my Archon clear out the kill zone before my awesome Incubi could attack. On reason I no longer use Incubi...

I don't want to run him with the vet squad. See the problem with the vet sqaud is that they cannot assualt out of the rhino. They will probably run by themselves. The commander has a jump pack so he can quickly get to a place in the gun line or respond very quickly to an enemies movements or assaults. He is more there to support the tac squad and if needed he can go and help the vet squad out. The point of the jump pack is to give him a lot of mobility.

Okay, here's the problem: The Dark Angel Veterans cannot assault out of their Rhino, and unsupported the Master is going to get himself killed. That's why I think you should replace the Veterans with a unit of Assault Marines to give the Master some back-up.

I don't think you understand. He is not going to rush off and try to commit some horoic deed. He is there to support my tacsquad in case they get into hand to hand and then if my vets get locked in CC then he will go over there and help them out. That is why he has the jump pack he can move 12 inchs a turn and assault 6. So he can support everyone else. Basically i want to try and avoid hand to hand or if i have to be able to end it quickly. The vets I am not to worried about. They have a base of 2 attacks each an the guys with the PF get 3 attacks normal and 4 attacks on the charge. The vets can hold there own. Of course if a damon prince, avater, or hive tryrant come a long I will have some problems but hopefully I will be able to couse some wounds on the Monsterous Creature before he gets to HtH and then end i quickly.
That is the cool thing with combat squads. If the enemy gets to close you can through a five man squad out and that squad gets assualted but it doesn't bog up your whole army. Then if they survive then great but if not you have more squads that can come in and support you or if the get killed the rest of you army will be to far away to consolidate into and then you get the gak shot out of you. A very nice tactic if use correctly.

You have to be careful when throwing out a small squad as a speed bump... if they get massacred then the enemy unit gets a massacre move towards you.
