I was just wondering what peoples feeling toward giants on this forum were? Do like them, hate them, etc? And more importantly how do you use them?

They Look Cool, stomp stuff if they get into melee, and die horrbily to massed missle fire.
Also, everyone elses is better than the Orge's Slavegiant becuase of stubborn.

I've used my OK slavegiant twice.
The first time, against Khemri, it paired off with the bone giant and spent the rest of the game 'eadbutting it.
The second time, charging night goblins, it elected to jump up and down. Of course, it fell down, failed the inevitable break test, and got hacked to pieces. Not being stubborn was the death knell there.

Giants are situational brilliance.
against any army with any sort of firepower - dwarfs, high elves, etc - its just a big 200 pt target.
against VC, ogres, chaos, it might fare a bit better. especially the whole 'immune to fear and terror' bit.

I've seen some OK players who just field the giant to be a diversion. And it works like a charm. They will fall to missile fire, but at least the missile fire won't hurt the rest, then. And if it actually gets near, they still do some massive stompin', and then there's the terror.

yea i've seen several lists take two giants and that can be nasty, for some of the same reasons above, but then even more. The opposing player couldn't decide which to shoot at so hit split fire between both, ended up killing neither and then got charged by both who gobbled up a unit each and finally succumbed to the hail of fire from his gun hill. either way that hill did not nearly enough damage to really help the game. end result, giant player got a massacre. losing only the giants

I struggle to wrap my brain around what sort of principle could possibly have led the player to split fire in this manner. Everyone knows you focus fire one nasty until it's dead before turning to the next. It barely even changes according to what game you're playing.

yep, which is why it worked...the opponent merely made a mistake in fear rather than thinking clearly. same happens when some people see 2+ treemen

Eh, doesn't happen with multiple MCs in 40k. Don't see why it would happen here except against very weak players.

Chaos giants rule.
I ran 2 at 3000 points and invariable got to use the special chaos giant 'choose where to fall over' rule to devestating effect.
Still working on this one (haven't touched it in about 8 months)
And yes he is armed with a sack of halflings.
Complete with mullet:
Regular giants- when the plastic one was released I used a DOW one painted up for my VCs- and he was great.
Raised by the vampire- complete with sword through head:
Slavegiants- not sure as no stubborn and that is the great thing about all the other giants- they are reliable in that it is unlikely they will run away.

I was thinkign about including one or two in my beastman/mortals army but the points (in addition to the 3 units of korne knights) got to high so I substituted three Slaanesh Spawns. Thanks for the great advice guys!

With the slavegiants as well as not being stubborn, IIRC their attacks are a little bit weaker against larger(Dont have the book with me so dont quote me on that) targets.
