Runes of Warding - makes your ENEMY psykers roll on 3 dice taking a test.

How necessary is this "psychic defense" in 40K?

I know some marine armies have librarians, and we have a new Demon codex coming out and Demons tend to be very magical in Fantasy (except Khorne) so I expect the same in 40K since the new codex and new Fantasy book are coming out simultaneously.

I have one psyker as my only Hdqs choice - I have to give up something to find the points for the warding runes (say replace a Vyper with a Walker.)

No money involved since Vyper not purchased yet.......

100% necessary. It won't be useful in every battle, but when it is, you'll be kicking yourself for not taking it. Warptime, Lash, FotA, other Eldar. . . . These are game-changing powers. Spend those few points.

I always take them. They are only 5 or 10 points (don't remember exactly). While they may not be used in every game, it is totally worth taking them for the times where they are useful.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

As the other have said, it is a great investment. If you do not take it you will be sorry.

And if the rumors are right, demons with not have psychic powers, but powers that you can't stop.

It's a very powerful item. I strongly suggest taking them.

Please try facing a Lash, other Eldar, and a FotD SM army without the runes. Then consider how you want to undetachably model them onto your Farseer to make sure there is _never_ any doubt that they are on the table.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
