I can't speak for everyone else, but for me, the fact that I spent hours on end painting these models means that while I certainly have the
ability to sell off my models, it's not an attractive proposition.
That's the investment. People spend a large amount of their time learning the rules. They put time, effort and money into building a collection of models. They establish a social network of like-minded players... and then the game changes.
For a lot of people, it's the
fact of the change rather than the actual nature of it that is off-putting, and they eventually get used to the differences and the game becomes fun again. For those people, we're in that transition period... they're going to complain about the game because it is different, but they'll eventually come around to it.
For others, the game suddenly plays differently, and they no longer enjoy it... but they still have all of that time, effort and cash invested into it, so just making that break and selling everything off isn't as easy as some people try to make it out to be.
On a side note, in another thread you were complaining about Dakka being more 'hostile' lately. This sort of post:
The reason I began posting in this thread was to point out some of the good things that came about in 6th in an effort to renew a players interest in the game... perhaps give him a new idea or two he hadn't thought about. Unfortunately, people like you jumped on the hate bandwagon and any point I might have made gets drowned out in a deluge of pessimism and egocentric whining. Am I acting a bit smug, and a bit superior? Sure, it's hard not to when all you hear is vague whining about something, and no offers of solutions being made. That comes from you making an ass of yourself, causing the result that I think less of you, therefore the superiority factor kicks in.
What's the matter... did I offend your delicate sensibilities with my "amateur psychoanalysis"? Does the big boy not like being told what to do? A little more evidence of your ego.
...really does nothing to improve that situation.
It would be appreciated if everyone involved could tone down the rhetoric and the stereotypic labelling a little, and try to keep the discussion civil. The fact that someone doesn't dislike something that you dislike doesn't make them a fanboy, and someone disliking something you don't isn't just being a mindless hater. Let's try to keep in mind that sometimes people just like different things, hmm?
