So, with Ezreal being free this week I've taken a step beyond just learning how to play him, I also decided that I wanted to learn how to smart cast as well. Mostly because I could feel the delays hurting me in my casting times for Ezreal's abilites....

Wow, what was I doing before? Smartcasting is the coolest thing ever. Easily takes the fraction of a second away that was messing me up and after my first few minutes of doing that I find it almost impossible to go back!

I was in a match this morning against another Evelyn build. I did much better this time around, since it wasnt such a WTF shock. I even beat the hooker a couple times as well. Granted, I could tell the player wasnt nearly as good as the first one, but still, she was doing some hulk smashing against the others at times.

ALSO I played against another Veigar user as well. The guy scored like 17 kills during our game, which surprised the hell out of me, as I typically get 7 or so currently. BUT the fun part is, everytime we would go toe to toe, Id kill him

What's your full build look like with Veigar anyway KC? Some run a Muramana on him for the upgraded form which doubles his single target spell damage by consuming a tiny bit more mana.

Muramana? What is this crazy lingo you keep using?!

Erm, I saw a review that showed to buy sorcerer boots, void staff and some hat, that gives you a gak load of armor pen. If thats what your talking about. But I dunno, it takes WAY to long to purchase those, and by the time I can afford everything, the tanks have far too much health to really do anything, so I ignore them unless they are almost dead. I can take out other ranged and mages rather well though by then.

Ideas?

Agreed here. I looked at the list and saw Veigar on there, and I have this quirky side where I love EBIL small things that look cute but are ebil...for realz. So I saved and bought him. Absolutely love the guy

Those are good anyway. Muramana is just a bit gimmicky and builds out of a tear. Something that could be worth looking at as well are:
Deathfire Grasp

Liandry's Torment

More or less you have a couple of core items like that hat and sorcerer boots and a few options you use to adjust to how the game is panning out. Both of those link to the wiki pages for them, but Deathfire Grasp is to be used at the start of your combo it'll do 15% of the targets maximum health as damage and then for the next 4 seconds your other spells will do 20% more damage to them. Liandry's will give you some more magic penetration and health, but also every one of your spells sets off it's effect which will burn them for 5% of their current health over 3 seconds (halved for your AOE attack), if you also throw in a Rylai's which slows people hit by your abilities you end up doubling the effect of Liandry.

Liandry's is a little more situational, but for a while many have seen Deathfire as one of those items Veigar tends to love to grab at some point.

Ahh Deathfire grasp, I have used that a few times actually, its pretty brutal on tanks lol. Today I played my best game to date and our team lost lol. But I had more kills then ANYONE else playing, and only died 3 times. My kills were like 13 or 14. I felt like a total badass

Why are you recommending an AD item for an AP champ? Just because you're a more experienced player than KC doesn't mean you should take advantage of him and suggest items that have no synergy with his champs a better idea would be to recommend Seraph's Embrace.

Is this game free to play, or do I have to pay for it?

Is it easy to pick up?

Are there "training" missions i.e. can I play against and with bots to get the hang of the game before I play multiplayer?

It is free to play, but there is a microtransaction system you can use if you do want to pay. But you can get almost anything in the game just by playing and gaining points that way.

You can play against AI to get the hang of it.

Free to play, you can pay money for new champions/skins faster than earning them in game

It can be intimidating at first, 100+ champs and a load of items mean there are a ridiculous number of build combinations. If you play it and enjoy the basics, then you just have to put the effort to get past that initial learning wall

Yes, there are also Player vs AI games that you won't be playing PVP but with human teammates to understand the pace of the game better but at some point the best way to learn is to just jump into PvP head first and learn it as you go.

I can get behind the jumping into PVP, but I'd rather not jump into a game immediately where people will yell at me for being a newb because I am a newb and raging because I haven't put years into the game.

heh. well, sort of fortunately, you will be yelled at for being a noob even after years in the game. Not because you are, but just because that's the community.

On the plus side, I'd say that any game in 'Dominion' mode is very friendly to new players. You get money and experience pumped into you, and you are basically trying to capture points on the map. It is fast paced, death doesn't matter nearly as much, and it only lasts 15- 30 minutes. I always start with a new champion in there.

Once you think you have an idea of how to fight with your champion, it is time to take your steps into the larger world by joining a 'vs bot' game. That will start training you to lane, work in different position, and give you some idea of what items you want to build. When you are comfortable with that, step on up to pvp, and watch the madness begin.

You will get put with lower level people at the start. So it is not a big deal, you will be playing with and against other lower levels. But I do recommend picking a handful of champs and getting used to their mechanics in an AI game before hand.

I also suggest listening to www.lowelo.com and joining their channel in the game. Lots of nice people willing to help and play games with you. Also a good idea, try a 100 game challenge with a champion that you have found you especially like.

Co-OP vs AI beginner is probably the friendliest place left in the game, besides custom games but those are like that because it's like sitting in a room by yourself.

Even after 2-3 years I get yelled at at times in normals, usually it tends to be people with less than 100 wins though. We can all still have off games or watch that caved in mid or top roll through the team.

Nasus = lolz

I was just playing a game and they had darius top. I turret dived him while he had full health and killed him at level 8.

After I did it a second time he just quit top lane and for some reason their jungler didn't want to gank top lane, so I just farmed the entire game and in the end I joined a team fight and almost got a pentakill. I got the quadra and then someone on my team sniped the last guy -_-

I also started playing zilean, he is really funny. I love going over speed boosts on dominion then activating my e which makes me go faster. I got my speed up to 700 and something.

I don't mind getting called newb once I am decently proficient, I played wow for several years, and was a damn fine healer if I do say so myself. I remember getting beaten up by a death knight, and being able to heal through all of his attacks until he summoned a ghoul horde on me and I bubble hearthed. He made a horde alt just to call me a newb, I told him he wouldn't have done much to me without that ability. I couldn't help it I just wanted the ironforge special fish lol

Does anyone know how to escape as Jayce?

Look at the champions that cost 450 IP or influence points. Influence points are one of the two in-game currency, you buy Rune points or RP, and earn IP or influence points by playing games.

Ah sorry, should have phrased that better.

At first you're also after things that seem fun to play as to you. Don't have to worry so much about viability until later on.
