Kickstarter cancelled.
ResNova was too scared to continue with the KS after the lackluster progress, and possibly all the bad blood created with some diehard fans when ResNova's CM started banning people that complained from Discord, and FB.

Let's hope they can manage a second go at it with a better plan after learning from their mistakes.

They definitively need some distribution hubs worldwide to minimise shipping and customs.
Also the prices for the miniatures kill the game outright. Maybe do it like some other companies and get in touch with Wargames Atlantic to make them in HIPS. Those are reasonable dudes and could save the whole range with high quality plastic starters. Release the Razides etc. in resin.
The presentation got a bit better for the KS, but there is still room for improvement.
I really would like them to succeed, but in the current form this is not worth it to me.

Big yes to cooperation with WA for HIPS. Big no for releasing minis in anything else.

Damn, this one croaked it before it was even alive.

Does it count for two deaths or none?

As far as the material is concerned, it was supposed to be a fifteen-models-per-side game. It's the best format for resin and quite possibly the worst one for any form of plastic production.

Well, coming from just (couple weeks ago) printing most of the Humble Bundle set of Siege of the Citadel stl files... give me more of that. I would buy heavily into a Warzone Patreon/3d file store.

This has only cemented that buying miniatures anywhere but local is incredibly expensive nowadays.

Was that stl only for a kickstarter and/or humble bundle? That's alot of good retro feel minis for sure and definitely could scratch that itch until raw. Are the stls still available separately?

What was discussed on discord that supposedly warranted banning? Dakka (unfairly IMO) gets a pessimistic reputation from those accustomed to the corporate walled gardens of enforced optimism and I'm curious what the reception was like elsewhere. I only use reddit when linked in thread and discord only when in an rpg session so am not familiar with the either.

Your link goes to the physical bundle of SotC. There are no STLs available, afaik.
I went all in on the game and it is solid. Lots of figures, game itself is very simplistic.

The STLs mentioned where part of a humble bundle, which is gone. It was some of the heroes from the SotC KS. Don't know if these are sold elsewhere.

During the KS there were also mini only add ons. Got myself a boatload of Dark Legion minis for small money. A pity those deals aren't available anymore.

Albertorius specifically mentioned an stl humble bundle so I figured I'd ask since the only easy link I found was the physical set from Modiphius as you noted. Was it only some of the heroes and not the mook bad guys then? I'm curious how much overlap it would have had with this campaign in terms of interest.

That one's a regular boardgame (which I also have ^^), but then on Humble Bundle they ran an offer for 18 sculpts from it as pre supported STLs. I printed a bunch of them, and even did a comparison of one of them from the boardgame side by side with the printed one (and then painted that one).

It's this one, don't know if they still sell it:

Here's some of the minis, and the painted one with the comparison:

@Albertorious. For whatever reason the Myminifactory link gives a 404error.

@Warboss. Several members from Mutant Chronicles España FB complained about having their messages deleted, and in one case expelled from the ResNova FB page after complaining that all the figures looked the same save for the heads, and weapons. Other took to complaining on the old Warzone Resurrection FB page for similar reasons, doubly so now that the ResNova FB has been "put on hold" while they think what to do. The salient point of the fracas with the more vocal Spanish fans seems to be the return to the retro look. On ResNova defense I'll say that a certain number of those fans were very involved with WZ:R and absolutely hate anything that wouldn't be a continuation of that style.

Yeah, WZ:R was sort of big at the start in Spain, having multiple tourneys and everything, so I can see how many of those would be peeved with a change in visual style.

Also, yeah, I thought that would happen: I got the link from Humble Bundle and I see it from my library, but it didn't show a price.

EDIT: Pics from the page

Thanks for the pics! I was wondering where you got some of those from your painting/modelling thread but figured it was some sort of patreon offering at some point.

Why would any one take that amount of debt risk producing plastic for a game line that's gone under multiple times?

The game failed so many times because it was handled incompetently on many levels. Only the superstitious fools believe in some mythical curse around the IP. Licence holders thought that nostalgia alone will somehow magically print them money. Without a proper investment and time to prepare everything you cannot expect miracles to happen. Res Nova at least had reason enough to realise that it is going nowhere, and stop before repeating the stupidity of the previous incarnations of the IP.
That aside, look at the Wargames Atlantic, and their future wars releases. There is a market for space Germans, Britts, French etc. etc. MC gives you that and more. If properly handled from the start (maybe teaming with WA or Fireforge etc. company that already is experienced with HIPS), it could both revive WZ, and also give the money outside of IP, from people who want their space Highlanders, Samurai, zombies etc.

True but over 20-30 years of failure it gets hard to attract new fans whose only awareness of a game is that it failed in the 90s, 2000s, 2010s (twice!) and 2020s.

I agree that MC, 40k and now Wargames Atlantic (and Star Wars) benefit greatly from their willingness to build on historical roots, whether or not they make sense. I don't for a second believe that the Japan of the far future will involve samurai with laser katanas, but darn I want my fictional Japan to have that.

So yes the exciting game of Space Japan, vs Space America, vs Space Germany, vs Space England, vs Space Cyborgs, vs Space Demon Zombies has endless potential, but each failure makes it harder to care about the next try.

Was Resurrection truly a failure? Prodos and future Archon was maliciously fething up moreso with AVP than this but it seemed like a good update visually to the minis line from an outsiders persoective and despite delays they seemed to actually get stuff in backers hands in reasonable time unlike AVP. I wasn't a backer so can't comment in detail on the kickstarter fulfillment nor on any changes to the lore with the update (reboot?).

I'm going to defend Prodos a bit here. The success with WZR made them believe that they could tackle a juicier franchise like AvP riding the momentum of the first KS. Then they found the hard way that 20th Century Fox didn't care about fulfillment dates, angry supporters, and so on. I really think that at the begining Prodos tried to work with everybody, and deliver the campaign, but after a certain point they just cut loses, and wrote off the whole AvP KS leaving a bunch of backers very, very angry without their stuff.

WZR KS was not as successful as people think, and their decision about shipping orders partially resulted in a financial crisis that necessitated another KS (AvsP), to cover the previous costs, which as we know ended in disaster. As to MC fluff, they were butchering it left and right (Wolfbanes on tracktors and giant wolves being the primary examples). Imagine that one of their ''brilliant'' ideas was to give Imperial Special Forces mini teleporters (technology extremely rare and experimental even in hands of Cybertronic).

No, that's lie. Before hurl such serious accusations of things you don't know, you should be more careful. Because you can hurt other people.

No members of Mutant Chronicles Spain has been expelled from any Res Nova group. The only Spanish who was banned from the Res Nova Facebook group (and who is not a member of Mutant Chronicles Spain) complained in the Spanish Facebook group and in the Warzone Resurrection Facebook group about his expulsion.

This person, from nick Hoarmûrath de Dir, is a player, who is not part of Mutant Chronicles Spain (we don't know him) and complained that Res Nova miniatures used the same body for different units within the same corporation and only they differed by the head. That is why they expelled him, but that is not our problem, nor are we going to go into whether the reason for the expulsion is correct or not.

And of course it is not fair to tell lies about the Spanish community. Because members of ALL the communities have complained and have shown their discontent, precisely the Spanish community is the one that has complained the least in the Res Nova group. You only need to go through the Res Nova group to see the Italian community very angry or people from Poland, Greece and other countries showing their dissatisfaction with the work of Res Nova. Members from different countries, not only Spanish.

Regarding what you say that members of the Spanish community were very involved with WZR and Prodos and that is why they complain about Res Nova or hate anything, again, you are lying with very serious things. The only person who has been directly involved with Prodos and who maintains contact with Jarek or Michal is ME. Nobody else. The rest of the members of Mutant Chronicles Spain have not had and do not have direct contact with Prodos. Only a few other members have collaborated with Prodos on the creation and testing of Warzone Resurrection rules and on the Spanish translation of the rulebook (just as they do now with Res Nova in the same way on both things: rules testing and translation).

So don't lie, the people of Mutant Chronicles Spain have no hatred towards anything from Res Nova because it has had a relationship with Prodos. Moreover, so you can see how far you lie, just as I have contact with Prodos, I have it with Mr. Fredrik Malmberg and I have it with Alex and Bryan from Res Nova, with whom I write messages and we have talked a lot about Eternal and about others topics. So I have a cordial relationship with all of them.

The members of Mutant Chronicles Spain and I personally, collaborate with Res Nova in everything that is necessary, although their miniatures are not liked us, something that Alex and Bryan know perfectly well, since it is part of our conversations.

I think you're ascribing way too much malice into a post that was likely trying to be informative yet succint. You've confirmed most of what was in the post and the couple of actualy differences can be chalked up to "from a certain perspective" viewpoints, limited personal knowledge of the behind the scenes, and your own expounding on what was actually written. I didn't take his post to be antagonistic towards the Spanish warzone community though admittedly I have zero personal knowledge of it. If I were to join the facebook group, I'd likely be kicked out after the second post reusing the entirety of my Spanish vocabulary ("Hello, my names is Warboss. My car are big red. Spain

I understand your point Warboss, or course.

But I'm sorry, I can't tolerate that someone outside of all the work we've been doing at Mutant Chronicles Spain for decades (we collaborate with the different companies that have worked on the franchise, not only in miniatures, but also in role-playing games, play board and physical Doomtrooper and its new digital version) accused us of trying to boycott the work of a new company for obscure reasons or interests. As if we were some kind of mafia group with interests, power and influence that, of course, we do not have. That is a lie and a very serious accusation that I will not tolerate and more so coming from someone who has never belonged to the Mutant Chronicles Spain working group, who does not know the reality and has dared to give an unfounded opinion and without reason.

And if you joined our Facebook group, you wouldn't be expelled for not speaking Spanish! In fact there are members from Sweden, Poland, Austria, Greece, and other countries there. We understand each other in English if necessary

Two beers, please.").

If you were to join the FB you would get "mortified" the moment you crossed Mr Crenshaw, as apparently happened to me after Mr Crenshaw's post on Dakka. He might understand English if necessary, but he is still working at the subtleties still.

Snark comments aside, Mr Crenshaw, I was there when Gen X brought the 1st miniatures to Madrid, lugged my WZ across continents, I've bought miniatures from every, and each edition of WZ except the 54mm collectible game (not much play unfortunately) so I have skin in the game, like several hundred figures worth of it.

Now, please do explain how I'm lying when, at the moment of the KS, Mutant Chronicles Spain was a private FB group where you could only comment if you were a member, a person using the name Hoarmûrath de Dir complained in the group (again where only members can post) about being banned from the ResNova FB page yet apparently that person didn't have anything to do with Mutant Chronicles Spain. Should I assume just like you did that you are a liar, that you are hurling serious accusations, or are you splitting hairs about casual members, true WZ fans, and the FB group's administrators/moderators?

I want to think that you do not understand the difference between being in a working relationship with a company that produces something vs being actively participating in that something. Otherwise you wouldn't be accusing me of
lying with very serious things
While you might be the only person that had some kind of contract with Prodos, I've been involved with WZ since I was in college an age ago. Per your own words other members collaborated (=involved themselves) with Prodos, and they were not happy with the new miniatures, they even made YT videos about too much retro-WZ!

I no longer have access to the threads where the Spanish community complained about the KS to prove my point, but maybe the Spanish community complained the least on the ResNova FB because it was the community that involved itself the least. Unless, I repeat myself so much , being involved with WZ in any of its incarnations means having the personal mail of the designers, then you are right, I'm not involved with WZ, probably nobody in Spain is except you, Mr Crenshaw.

The same way you write that you cannot tolerate my "lies", I cannot tolerate you making me the strawman of your frustation because the KS got shelved for the time being. I did not accuse anybody of boycotting WZE, I did not accuse you of being a mafia, and my affiliation to a working WZ group, or lack of it has exactly 0 relevance when I'm stating my opinions about what I saw going on in the FB group while I was still a member. Either prove me wrong using my own words or get the hell out of here.

coming from someone who has never belonged to the Mutant Chronicles Spain working group, who does not know the reality and has dared to give an unfounded opinion and without reason.
I could give you names of people that complained online in stronger words than I did in Dakka, although I could be seriously mistaken they were very much involved in WZR, are they lying too, or did you purge them from the groups already?

Cue in before I'm called toxic fan by Mr Crenshaw à la Disney because I pulled the curtains aside for everybody to see that in Spain WZE was not wine, and roses like they told us.

M.

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.
