I know it's a feature and not a bug but, personally, if I want a retro 90s sculpt from Warzone then I'll just hunt down one of the originals I lived back in the day. I still have some of my old Capitol figs and, as a recovering Rifts rpg player, you'll have to pry my Free Marine/Juicer out of my cold dead hands.

Regardless, I wish them well. I'm on mobile so I can't tell if they fixed the clipping 3d model issue I noted earlier or if it is also prevalent on other minis. FWIW, I do actually like the art on display at the campaign. It's a modern comic booky take on the classic tabletop sculpts and is a good modernization of something retro.

A 2-player starter box would probably have been a better idea.

The rules download suggests that average games involve 10-20 models.

Selling models in 5-man boxes for 40USD a pop seems slightly bizarre.

A gameplay video would be nice, too.

This KS has a lot of red flags right now.

I'm in for a hardcopy of the rules and some Mishima. I already have too many, but since I can't go nuts on Brotherhood during this KS, I'll have some actually good looking Hatamoto in the near future.

And yes, the Hatamoto were the only Mishima sculpts I did not like from the Prodos run.

Urusei Yatsura, Cerebus the Aardvark, Machiavelli, Plato and Happy Days. So, how was your childhood?

This is true and not true. There is a marked difference between sculpts from the 1st Edition and 2nd Edition. Sculpts from the 2nd Edition were of their time, but also still hold up pretty well today. Kev White had a very iconic, almost comic book style that made for some characterful minis that oozed style. Sculpts from 1st Edition were, to put it kindly, hot trash. Bad poses, bad proportions, bad design. There are few, if any, that have redeeming features.

Because 2nd Edition died before hitting its stride, a lot of really iconic units were left without updated sculpts. I can't hop on Prince August and order their non- Venusian Rangers that never existed. So I can appreciate someone producing a line that won't look entirely out of place next to my existing 2nd Edition stuff (though I would like to see an actual scale comparison).

Will probably throw in for a book and a box if only to continue the collection and potentially grab some minis I can use with my original army if I don't end up liking the updated rules. Or, if the rules are good, maybe finally move on from 1st Edition with house rules as my main way to play.

I became interested in Warzone with the release of the 2nd edition boxed game and the followup releases. While I agree there was a significant change in style (again agreed to the better with 2e IMO), I personally consider both retro but from different eras similar to the divide between RT and 2e in 40k. Obviously the newer sculpts for both hold up better than the older ones but are still instantly recognizable as dating from an earlier era. These remind me of a 3d sculpted homage to 2e. Regardless ss, doughboys and football mohawks will always hold a special tabletop place in my heart.

I like that Chasseur model. Looks a lot like that one Parente illustration.

Yeah, that's about it. It's not that the models are bad (well, some of them kinda are), but they do channel a bit too much of that 80s charm across the range.I think quite a few of the 2nd edition sculpts for Bauhaus, Imperial and Capitol might in fact be superior to what's shown here.

And don't even get me started on the missing Ranger cloaks.

Still, I wish them well. A live game can be improved with time. A dead game cannot*.

*until the next time someone tries to revive it, of course.

Well, here we are again. In for a copy of the rules and a box of models just to see what they are like in the flesh, all for the super low price of a blank cheque when you consider VAT and delivery.

If the game plays well I will probably just use my mountain of WZR minis. If not, I once again did my part to keep this thing going until the next edition..

Fully agree. Let's see where this goes, but this is not done very well, given the prep time.
And dang, that's GW pricing...

One issue is, the whole thing feels like it directed only at people already familiar with past editions. And that doesn’t make sense considering it is a new and entirely different game.

The lack of a 2-player starter set is really strange here. Also missing are:

- any pictures of actual miniatures
- any game play video
- a pledge level that actually includes what someone would need to play the game
- no incentive to back KS (and pay for shipping) rather than wait for discount retail with free shipping

I really don’t know how anyone can still keep complaining about GW prices when more and more we see 8USD/fig prices like this.

Why? We can see GW has ridiculous prices, and in addition this KS has ridiculous prices. And Wizkids Kobolds are ridiculous. Fortunately, there are still plenty of not-ridiculously-priced miniatures out there.

In my experience, it’s getting harder to find them. North Star and Wargames Atlantic seem like the bastions of reasonable prices.

Mantic and Realer have raised prices, but still have some boxes or minis for good prices. Nolzur’s, Victrix, Perry, most other sprue plastics sellers (other than Conquest), they’re all reasonable.

@Bob
Mantic has good starter army deals but then absurd pricing to get what you actually need to play their games. That’s the only one of your examples that is really relevant, IMO: sci fi/fantasy miniatures sold as part of game-driven product line. Reaper and WK offer some cool stuff that’s reasonably priced for one-off uses or for mini-agnostic gaming but nothing comparable to the subject to hand. Anyhow, we can agree that the prices for the kind of product line Warzone Eternal fits into are getting very, very high — no doubt, following GW’s example.

The pricing is weird for sure. If the desired level of play is 10 minis per side, the basic pledge should be that. but currently you get 5 minis for 65$ or 10 for 105$ and no savings with stretchgoals because there are no stretchgoals planned right now, and you still need to add the tokens????

I'm really disheartened. If there was at least a digital option for the rulebook I'd throw some money at the KS like I did with the Chronopia one, but as is I don't think I'll join in.

And for 10 figures, you’re talking an additional 30USD for the tokens.

I wouldn't mind paying USD40 for 5 high quality models with a bunch of options. But that's not what they're showing here.

They're not showing anything in fact. Why would they go with five repeating renders for a box with multiple unique parts? Why would they not show physical samples, when they had them months ago? Even if they don't have production samples for every box, painting up raw prints would have been better than this gray mess.

So the only Megacorp without iconic shoulder pads is Mishima. How not surprising. As to backing, I think other pointed all the reasons not to. Also, I have enough PVC MC models from Siege KS that I need to sale to burden myself with siocast gummy bears. Wake me up for hard plastic.

As much as I like the IP, there is just nothing done right about this KS.
Should I still be interested in the game, I will be able to get it cheaper after release.

I have to admit, given how generally close they stuck on everything else, Mishima losing their blocky shoulder pads is actually kind of weird. It isn't that the Mishima minis look bad, but they definitely feel more like generic sci-fi Japanese dudes rather than Mishima. Would have been nice to see a proper rendition of the Hatamoto art in miniature form.

Kind of sad given how much they really nailed Cybertronic in terms of the original art.

Yeah, it is especially sad because I am huge Mishima fan, and it looks like it is the least favourite for anyone trying to ressurect WZ these days. Fun fact: on siege KS they gave one of Mishima heroes Capitol shoulder pads

I finally found what was throwing me off on that Hatamoto pic. The dragonfire is a tri-tube mg, not a minigun like the Charger.

I like the corporation troops more than the legionnaires. Razide is pretty good though.

Mishima has the weakest of the corporation sculpts IMO.
