Today I had a battle between myself (Dark Eldar) and my friend (Eldar) VS Space Marines and Imperial Guard. It was a Hold At All Costs mission, meaning the SM and IG set up in the middle of the board with their tanks and Space Marines and blasted everything they could see. Strangely enough, I did pretty well. We didn't get to finish the game, as the Eldar player had to leave an hour early...

Anyways, here is my list from that game. I'm posting it because it is the one I've done best with. However, I'm not sure that it is the best it could be. So I'm asking any other, more experianced, Dark Eldar players, or just people that know something about them, to help me out on this.

After looking through your list heres what I think:

HQ (Archon & Retinue)
- Get your archon a splinter pistol, as it would would give him an extra attack and is too cheap not to take!
- Keep the purpose of this unit clear. You have heavy weapons and assault troops in the same squad, If you use one then you waste the other. Switch to Splinter Cannons.
- Incubi Masters are way overpriced and I'm sorry to say yours is even more so, I can't see that any of the upgrades are worth it. I'd get Drazhar instead, he's 6 pts more but alot better!

HQ (Haemonculus)
- First Haemonculus is listed as the same cost as the others, but has more equipment...
- Personally I just place them on skyboards or on foot with a WWP, but jetbikes are alright and don't take as much work to use effectively.

EL (wyches)
- I don't know what you've added here to get the total cost... It's way over what I get!
- The only reason to take a Goblet of Spite is if your using them as a anti-tank squad, as otherwise your causing your enemy to hit you on 3+!
- I assume it's hidden in the cost, but wyches should always have plasma grenades.

TR
- These seem fine, if a bit for the min-max of Dark Lances.

FA (Reaver Jetbikes)
- For a reaver Succubus you should get a power weapon and a Tormentor Helmet in order to make him as deadly in CC as possible.

HS (Scourges)
- Personally I don't like these, way to expensive for what you get, but played correctly they can work.
- Note that a 3 Disintegrator Ravager with Night Shield is cheaper!

HS (Ravager)
- Where is the Night Shield? It's on every raider, even the ones not transporting troops, but not on the ravager? Get it one.

Hope some of this helps... But always remember that it's your army!

Scourges are horrible IMO. The only use I've found for them is actually with Splinter Cannons and then they can shred light troops. But taking Jump Infantry with Heavy Weapons just doesn't make sense. As the above poster said, take a Ravager instead, you'll get more mileage that way.

I completely agree with Ozy on the scourges
Giving them Heavy weapons combined with their wings/jump packs doesn't make a lot of sense in game terms.

I just hope in the next codex they let scourges move and fire heavy weapons...give them suspensors or something from back in Rogue Trader. Then I might actually try fielding them.

Normally, I would NEVER give my Scourges Dark Lances. But the game I played really called for it. The enemy force was pretty much 50% tanks, and I needed all the Lances I could field. I really just stuck the Scourges in one place the whole game and shot with the 4 Lances every turn. They never got shot at, so it worked well. But usually, I run them with 4 Splinter Cannons, and Deep Strike them in behind the enemy infantry, and just shred up some bitchs.

You have 12 Dark Lances without them and the ones in the Command Squad. What army are you playing against where that is not enough?

5 guys with the exact same stats as your normal warriors. I would target them first and bag me 4 Dark Lances and a whole bunch of easy VP's.

I was playing against an IG army with a Basilisk, 5 Sentinels, a Hellhound, 2 Russes, and some other tanks I don't know the name of. And THAT was teamed up with a Space Marine army with a Land Raider, a Whirlwind, and a third tank, plus a Demolisher Squad and quite a few marines. And I had to take care of the anti-tank responsibilities for my team, which was myself and an Eldar player.

The Space Marine player didn't seem to realize what was dangerous to him though. I ran a squad of Wyches right into his position, absolutely MURDERED a squad of Marines (I didn't take one casualty, and I overran them in one turn of combat), and he didn't even try and shoot the Wyches for another few turns. Also, he seemed bent on destroying my teams vehicles with his and the IG tanks. I just laughed and didn't say anything as they wasted Basilisk shots and Demolisher cannon shots on Raiders. Empty Raiders. The IG player was knew what was what, but he and the Marine player kept arguing, and usually picked bad targets. My Scourges weren't even shot at, and neither was my Ravager.

The IG vehicles were:

Basilisk, Chimera (Full of Stormtroopers), 5 Sentinels, Leman Russ Battle Tank, Leman Russ Demolisher and a Hellhound.

The SM vehicles were:

Land Raider, Razorback, Whirlwind and a Predator (Heavy Bolter/Autocannon).

The Eldar player had very little in the way of Anti-Tank stuff...

He had a Fire Prism, Guardian Heavy Weapons (2), and 6 Fire Dragons to assist in Anti-Tank. It was pretty much up to Seamus.
