is it possible to make a 500/750 tyranid list with only big units? I have a friend that's going to try to use alien action figures as proxy nids, but can he use a "nidzilla" list with point ranges that small? Would it be too weak against a small army? or too strong? Does anybody have any low point-cost large tyranid list they could show me?

You need at least 1500 points to have Elite Carnifex units.

I'd say squeezing 4 or more Monstrous Creatures into a 750 point list would count as 'Nidzilla' in most folks' minds.

The main build principle of 'Nidzilla' is to have as many big, hard to kill monsters as you can get in the standard force organization chart with a minimim of troops for the total army list cost. You can do this at any points level really.

Here may be an example of 750pt. 'Nidzilla'...

~HQ~
Hive Tyrant (ES, TS) (TL-Dev, VC) (149pts)
Hive Tyrant (ES, TS) (TL-Dev, VC) (149pts)

~Troops~
(9x) Spinegaunts (45pts)
(3x) Ripper Swarm (30pts)

~Heavy Support~
Carnifex (BS) (2x - TL Dev) (113pts)
Carnifex (BS) (2x - TL Dev) (113pts)
Carnifex (BS) (VC, Barbed Strangler) (148pts)

Total 747pts.

I'd say this list is pretty 'Nidzilla' for the points. I personally find that a good swarm is super effective at 500-750 points but if you are building the list to fit some odd models that are available, well there you go.

Thanks a lot! Actually, it isn't alien toys per se, He's using basketball player action figures, which will tower mercilessly over everything I have to field. So we're using the stats and rules for giant 'Nids and creating a race of giant globetrotting supermen.

He's way more willing to spend his money on these toys than real games workshop merchandise.
