Over the last few months, I've been in a bit of a dilemma, deciding on a list that is best against the Tyranid menace. I have since come up with a few, but have settled on one, which I think will work, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm new here, and I would appreciate any feedback on the list. My opponents DO NOT use 'Nidzilla, so I'm safe there.

It looks good. The only problem is that you're ten points over 1500, and you have plenty of stuff you can trim to put yourself at or under 1500 points. Also, your Devastator Squad is short a bolter-wielding Marine.

Drop the extra armor on the Preds and switch out the power weapons for fists as well as the Chappy with twin LC, he's better with a powerfist and his crozius. Also, don't need the melta bombs, your opponent doesn't have any vehicles. Dropping the 2 extra armors, switching the LC's to a PF, and dropping the meltabombs gives you 40 points. 30 go to upping your power weapons to fists and the other 10 drops you to 1500 exactly.

I still think you'll have some trouble with the bigs Nids and your Tactical squads are kitted out for both big and small bugs. How about in one squad take a Plasma/Las combo and in the other a flamer/HB combo? That way, you have one for small bugs and one for big bugs.

Thanks for the suggestions, both of you.

@ Nurglitch: This is mainly designed for my local gaming group, which includes 2 Tyranid players, so if I'm over a few points, they really won't mind. I totally missed the extra bolter marine in the Dev. Squad, thanks.

@ Ozymandias: I never took a Chaplain, he's been a master the entire time; the master is more fluffy for my list. I really don't want to drop the extra armor as it seems, very valuble on the Pred's... isn't that a big thing in 5th ED? I want to keep the tactical armament as is, the Dev. squad is committed to hunting the big bugs. (Hive Tyrant, Carnifexes, etc.)

Any more C&C on the list?

Actually, if the rumours are right, EA will be near worthless on Preds. They won't be able to fire effectively on the move, can't score, and get a save for being in cover. All this combined will give you a wonderful reason to never move them in the first place.

Sorry, I read Captain as Chaplain (since there are no Captains in the DA list). But no, EA is still too expensive for the small gain you get. You are still better off with the Powerfists.

The problem is that the Plasma is not a good fit with the Heavy Bolter. The plasma is for killing big things, the heavy bolter for killing small things. If you want dedicated small bug killers, I think you'll be better off with flamers in those Tactical squads. Or you can make one for little bugs and one for big bugs as 2 ML and 2 LC won't cut it (especially if the Nid player takes the 2+ save upgrade).

And they dont' mind if you are a few points over. Hell, then take another squad while you are at it. Over the points (especially when you have upgrades that are 10+ points) is wrong.
