Hey all,

I've been back in the city for pushing two years now and I'm getting exhausted with the local GW atmosphere. I am in my early twenties and haven't really been pleased with the age and attitude of gamers I've met. I work full-time and go to school full-time, but I typically set some time aside each week for a game or so. I end up more often than not playing youngsters or less experienced players, turning into more work than fun. I am looking for any FLGS in Center City or outskirts of town, or local basement group, (I have a car) that could use another experienced player. I won't call myself veteran by any means, but I am a stickler for the rules. The majority of my material is unpainted if that offends anyone, due in part to my busy schedule and also that I have more a passion for modeling and converting than painting.

Thanks

.................................... Searching for Iscandar

I know the feeling.

I moved outta philly long time ago.

The GW scene in and around philly wasn't good over a decade ago either.

Hopefully someone will notice ya and make a go of it.

If not, I might come out for a visit either this summer or in the winter.

Smash:

PM me or Whitescar. We're on opposite ends of the city (he's in Westchester, I'm in Bucks) but both of us are good for for-tee-kay, Warmachine (he's more the former, I'm more the latter), Victorian Sci-fi, etc.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I echo what Syr said. I also run with the Green Dragon Gaming Club. Mostly 35+ old timers who play mostly anything GW. We meet once a month and are currently meeting at TDS comics in West Chester. I know Mauleed has a bunch of guys in South Jersey right over the bridge from you.

The scene once you find it is quite hopping here. Also, try Showcase Comics in Media, PA. Probably the best shop in the Midatlantic for GW stuff and Mike the owner is a very good guy, I think he posts as Mikhaila here.

I heart SYR 8766

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... I can vouch for how nice Showcase Comics is, was there last night playing WM.

I'm over in South Jersey, pretty much right over the bridge and there are some other posters in our area. I kind of jump between three gaming groups right now (I've got a lot of extra time because my wife is working nights).

One group plays at the local GW shop in Voorhees. There's a mix of teens there, some who are pretty cool and then there's the guys who are all older and generally it makes things pretty decent for weekend gaming. A post or PM if you were going over there and were looking for a game and we could set some stuff up. A lot of us older guys play both systems, but 40k has more players ATM.

The atmosphere is pretty nice most of the time, and the guys who work the shop are pretty cool but you get that GW shop feel some times because you can have a lot of kids running around sometimes.

Showcase out in Media (Granite Run Mall) has a lot of tables and the people who work there are really nice. It's probably closer and saves you tolls to hit them up. There's a good group of people who play just about anything who go there. Right now I'm mainly going out there to play WM, as that's the closest shop that has the game. The only reason I don't use it as my primary game shop is because the GW store is 15 minutes away and Showcase is 45 minutes + tolls. Mike has also got another shop in Bryn Mawr, but I've never been to that shop. You can get directions to his places here and they've got a forum here.

Can also vouch for Showcase. Great shop. I NEVER make it out there 'cause it's 2+ hours away, + tolls, but when I've been it's been great. Good support of GW (mostly 40k, Fantasy & LOTR), FOW and Warmachine/Hordes. They've got a discussion forum off their website (just do a google search) where folks set up games etc.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I live in cherry hill, on the west side, 10 minutes from old city.

I generally just play at my house or tournaments. Here's the forum we use to schedule meeting up:http://thecolonialgt.com/forums/. I can run 3-4 tables at once, and everyone is experienced (though very tournament focuses as opposed to beer and pretzel players)

We don't play much 40k, but might start (again) in july since V5 is coming out and this year's NEWCC (a club tournament) is 40k. If you're interested in fantasy, you'll definitely be able to get a game in with us.

And Jesse, Miles is part of our regular gaming group, and might drag me down to see the fabled Ice House this weekend.

I am new to the board and saw this thread. I am in Chester County and looking to get into WHFB or WAB and cannot seem to find any players in my age group (40) or within an hour's drive.
Keep me in mind if you guys ever want to game. I am new to Warhammer but look forward to gaming before I have to go on Social Security

Feel free to PM me, but I'm betting I'm a heck of a drive for you (probably an hour).

But most of our guys drive that far because it's worth it to find higher level opponents.

Whitescar - does your club play any WHFB these days or is it mostly 40K?

Wednesdays and Fridays are usually pretty good nights for WFB at Showcase Comics in Granite Run Mall. (My shop, I'm Mike, pretty much live there). Wednesdays is a league night, Fridays pick up games, but usually a few of us there doing fantasy. From Paoli you can go down 252 to RT.1, then RT 1 south for about 3 or 4 more miles. Mall is right on RT 1, on your right.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
