Subject: Battle Report Khador vs Cryx... Khador = EPIC FAIL

Played my first battle last night. Khador Box vs Cryx Box. First turn I moved forward at the unbelievably slow 4” pace. I used the destroyer to fire off a shot at one of his chickens. By some miracle I actually landed the shot and took half of the chicken’s life off. Sorscha fired with her pistol and missed. On his turn he moved everybody up and put his chicken within Scourge range and knocked over both my destroyer and Sorscha. His ranged attack chicken tried to shoot the Destroyer but didn’t even scratch the paint. Second turn, Destroyer and Sorscha are back on their feet and shooting again. Took down a good deal of the chicken’s health (I was trying to eliminate arc nodes). Sorscha threw razor wind and failed. The Juggernaut got within range of another chicken and killed it with a single sweep of it’s axe (Even though its only a chicken, I felt good about that one). My opponent forgoes scourge and moves in to engage. The slayer’s double claw attack killed my Juggernaut in one hit!!! Is that normal?!?!?! The chicken scores a hit on Sorscha and finishes her off (Scourge had already done a bunch of damage to her). So at the end of turn two I am left with my destroyer and no caster. I made the best of it, I took out another chicken.... Then I died . It was an embarrassment to Khadorans everywhere. Help me out here… how can I make sure that this doesn’t happen again?
On a slightly more positive note, we played a second battle and I swapped Karchev for Sorscha. I just want to say that Karchev is a beast. Slow and lacking in focus yes… but strong as anything and packs quite a punch.

I've had my Juggernaut take on all 3 Menoth 'jacks from the box set at once and live long enough to disable the Crusader and considerably weaken the two little ones. I haven't played against Cryx, but I've gotta guess it's NOT normal to go down in a single round of combat.
Don't forget that once your 'caster dies, any warjacks they control become inert (ie totally useless). Losing Sorscha ends a battlegroup game.

Well, unless your Juggernaut was damaged before the hit, it's mathematically impossible for one Combo Strike to do enough damage to disable it even with The Withering and Parasite up. Did you remember to subtract the Juggernaut's ARM value from the damage roll?
For Sorscha, in the beginning stages of the battle, cast Fog of War to protect your models. Advance, shoot some stuff, whatever. What you should be looking to do is a) engage/kill his arc nodes so they can't arc spells and b) get LOS and a charge lane to Deneghra. If at any point Sorscha's not knocked down, about 15" from Deneghra, and Deneghra hasn't used The Withering, keep all your focus on Sorscha. Cast Wind Rush to get closer to Deneghra and find a charge lane. Pop Icy Gaze and charge her. If Deneghra isn't hoarding focus, she's dead.
In the second battle, did Karchev do any better than Sorscha? He is better in melee than Sorscha, but he's just begging to have Crippling Grasp cast on him.

Riiight... armor... uh yeah... . Well it was my first game but still... wow. How did I miss that one. As for Karchev... he destroyed everybody. Fissure is amazing so is the eruption spell. What is this crippling grasp that I need to look out for?

You won't like it. Basically Deneghra can castrate one of your jacks for the whole game, causing it to suffer -2 SPD, STR, DEF, and ARM. It's also not allowed to run, charge, slam, or make special attacks. And it's an upkeep spell.
So if she runs an arc node up and gets LOS and 8" on Karchev, then he's going to be gimped the whole game.

Can she still do that even though he isn't technically a Warjack? I know that there was one spell that my opponent tried to cast on him to take him over but it wouldnt work because he is a character. Is this spell similar?

Crippling Grasp affects a model/unit. So, yes.

Take your opponent's cards and White-Out the spell? Sidearms will give you a little defense buff, but it may not be enough. Not to mention that bunching up like Sidearms makes you do will make you a nice target for Scourge. You can also try to Tow your warjacks forward and have them run to engage the arc nodes. But if he's careful, he's still got the third bonejack, a Slayer to throw one of your jacks away, and Ghost Walk. Your best bet will probably to beat her to the assassination. You can take a few hits; she can't. Get up close, get Crippling Grasped, and send the Juggernaut after the Slayer. Have Karchev and the Destroyer get closer to Deneghra every turn, taking free strikes from the bonejacks if necessary, and shoot her with Eruption and the Bombard. She has Stealth, but with a few lucky scatters, you might be able to nickel-and-dime her to death. I realize I'm armchair warcasting here, but in the hands of two experienced players, at this sized point level, Deneghra really seems to have the answer to everything Karchev does.
