Hai guys,

Here is a list of the most recent version on 1K sons I have been playtesting with.

HQ-Deamon Prince w/ Wings/MoT/Warptime
175pts

Elite-5 Terminators w/ MoT/5 Combi-plasma/2 Power Fist
230pts

Elite-8 Chosen w/ IoCG/Lascannon/2 Plasmagun
219

Elite-8 Chosen w/ IoCG/Lascannon/2 Plasmagun
219

Troops-8 Thousand Sons w/ Sorcerer/BoC
269

Troops-8 Thousand Sons w/ Sorcerer/BoC
269

Troops-8 Thousand Sons w/ Sorcerer/BoC
269

Heavy-Predator w/Autocannon & Heavy Bolter sponsons
100

1750 TOTAL

This list is going well but I am wanting to upgrade to another predator and EVENTUALLY toss the Sons in rhinos, even though im against that idea for the most part(kinda takes away from the ability to fire 24 on the move if they are locked in a casket).

<3 Dave

Well, i was hoping for a little more info from you stelek. :(

Unfortuantely, the Eldar guy I play doesnt play mech eldar. He insist that its bad. And b4 you begin to bash his ability ill get pics of his 3 GT/RT trophies.

However I play mech Tau a lot, and i mean A LOT! We usually split 50/50.

I am very aware of my armies inablitly to be very moble, slow and purposful chasing vehichle becomes tedious. Thus the Chosen and Terminators.

I am by no means saying you are wrong mr stelek, I agree, Mech Eldar will walk all over this list. But like I said, my eldar guy plays much more scary eldar than "im good at flying around and not dying rather than actually killing things" eldar.

If you could throw a 1750 Mech Eldar list at me I would be happy to have him play it to see how painful it is. But any other comments would be outstanding, it has yet to face a nidzilla or mechanized guard but I am not even sure if mech gaurd is good at the big scene b/c I am yet to go to a BIG tournament(see my welcome post).

Ps. Yes, runestones hurt a lot. :(

I have some suggestions. Firstly I think you should consider what you want your units to do and what they're able to do.

Take your Daemon Prince, for example, it can use two Psychic Powers per turn (but only one shooting power) and they're handy for assaults. Maybe giving him Wind of Chaos along with Warp Time will help out since you don't have any Raptors or Bikers to help it out in assaults. A Bolt of Change is classic and it would enhance your anti-tank firepower.

The Terminators will have 4+ Invulnerable saves, so it might be something to go all-out in the Power Fist department since you have less (but not nothing) to worry about hitting at I1.

Considering that your Terminators have no transport and can Deep Strike accurately within 6" of an Icon it might also be something to give your Chosen an Icon of Something so that they can bring your Terminators in close to the enemy. Also, I'd recommend either taking Melta Guns or Flamethrowers on your Chosen rather than Plasma Guns. The Lascannons pretty much dedicate them primarily to anti-monster and anti-tank, and taking Melta Guns cements that, while Flamethrowers are cheap and will give them the ability to take on any hordes that come their way. Flexibility is important for Chosen if you're planning on using them as a forward anchor for Deep Strike troops and summoned Daemons.

By comparison it might help if you thought about single purposes for your Thousand Suns: rather than wasting all those AP3 bolter shots while using the Bolt of Change on a tank, you might consider giving the Aspiring Sorcerer a Doom Bolt or Wind of Chaos to complement the firing of the troops they lead, or Warp Time to make them a harder proposition in an assault.

If you're feeling particularly lucky, and have the models, I recommend taking Gift of Chaos on all of your psyckers, Daemon Prince included. It can be fun, if unreliable, and can be cast on engaged models so you can get a unit locked in combat, rely on your 4+ Invulnerable saving throws to hang in there, and then spawn an attacker in your next turn. At least you can rely on it working 50% of the time, pending Eldar runes, against T3.

The Predator looks like a nice piece of anti-infantry and light vehicle kit, particularly if you already have lots of anti-tank stuff. If you go with the Daemon Prince and the Chosen for your anti-tank, then leave it as is (maybe some Extra Armour if you have the points so you can scoot if you can't shoot), but if you decide to just leave the anti-tank work to your Chosen, then it would be an idea to upgrade that Autocannon to two Lascannons.

You have 1 DP. You should have 2.

You have Chosen. You should not.

You have one small Terminator squad. You should have alot or have none.

You have 1 tank. You should have none, or alot; but Chaos cannot have alot, so you are back to should have none.

Run Chaos like it's Chaos. Don't run Chaos like it's Smurfs.

It doesn't work well that way.

Bring Obliterators. They are better than anything else you can get in the heavy slots.

Bring Demon Princes. They are better than anything else you can get in the HQ slots. Bolt of Change and Warptime is what I'd recommend. Move 12", hit on a 2+, fire 24"? Yeah. Have a 4+ invulnerable save? Yeah. Rock in CC? Yeah.

Fill everything else up with Thousand Sons. Always take cult troops over non-cult.

I'd not take more than 3 squads of the TS myself. The champions are very pricey. I sent you my mech Eldar list. Hopefully you'll see why the TS are vulnerable to mech, even if mine is more a hybrid mech.

Here's what I'd do:

1750 Pts - Chaos Marines Roster - Thousand Sons

1 Daemon Prince @ 200 Pts
Close Combat Weapon; Fearless; Wings; Bolt of Change (x1); Mark of Tzeentch; Warptime (x1)

1 Daemon Prince @ 200 Pts
Close Combat Weapon; Fearless; Wings; Bolt of Change (x1); Mark of Tzeentch; Warptime (x1)

2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

2 Obliterators @ 150 Pts
Power Fist; Obliterator Weapons; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful

9 Thousand Sons @ 297 Pts
Bolter; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch
1 Aspiring Sorceror @ [90] Pts
Bolt Pistol; Force Weapon; Melta Bombs; Fearless; Bolt of Change; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch

9 Thousand Sons @ 297 Pts
Bolter; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch
1 Aspiring Sorceror @ [90] Pts
Bolt Pistol; Force Weapon; Melta Bombs; Fearless; Bolt of Change; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch

9 Thousand Sons @ 297 Pts
Bolter; Fearless; Slow and Purposeful; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch
1 Aspiring Sorceror @ [90] Pts
Bolt Pistol; Force Weapon; Melta Bombs; Fearless; Bolt of Change; Inferno Bolts; Mark of Tzeentch

Total Roster Cost: 1741

If you really want Rhinos, wait till 5th edition then grab a couple. I don't recommend it, but if you have your heart set on one just remove a couple TS.

Nurglitch,

As for the DP you are right. The original list had the 200pt monster in it, was changed to shave points. I'll consider going back. As for the the Terms, I would take NO PF if it wasnt for my extensive first hand learning of what a dreadnaught does to unPFed(wow I actually typed that) Terms. I would only take one if that were all I expected, but after Eldrad is done w/ my DP, he will turn to things that make him Squish, aka PF. This is why I run 2. As for the Chosen, they ARE indeed pointed to have an ICON, I just forgot to type it. The Lascannon is there if I do not get to infilitrate. Don't get me wrong, odds are, them boys are gonna be on the move. But if I can get ONE good shot at ANY typically annoying skimmer I'll keep em stationary for a turn. They origianlly had 4 meltaguns and when INF was being used, they were fantastic. I just have had too many games recently NOT using INF so I tried the Las for fun and it turned out great. I will look into trying Gift on the many Sorcerers. It's been mentioned b4 so now I will give it a whirl.

Stelek,

You and I are square as far as I'm concerned. I'll keep you updated on how Mech Eldar does against MY list. I'm not gonna go into detail about how I think such and such unit is good even though you don't and so on and so forth. I like how you stick to your guns. Consistancy is the key. Here is my responses I guess even though I just said I would'nt.

1 DP b/c 2 is too heavy in pts considering t5 and the fact that EVERY single bullet ur opponent has will hit them until they are dead.
(bolters killing my 200pt DP makes me sad)

Chosen have their place, you must give them a chance.

One tank is beautiful for setup purposes(not to mention EIGHT ap4 shots a turn for 100pts)

WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT SMURFS???

New Obliterators make me sad. T4 and for 25 more points I can get MY tank that has a better shot at living through a Lascannon.

Yes your tooling of the 1k son DP is what I used to use, see above.

807 points, nearly half my army is quite enough for cult troops

Your list is like mine but you have ALL slow and purposeful and I have a tank(that will kill his own points in obliterators in ONE round of fire WHILE BEING MOBILE) and 2 infiltrating units that IMO will more effectively kill tanks and not get ONE shot by a Lascannon.

I will consider rhinos in 5th.
