Articles have a URL in the hotbuttons, but it doesn't function like the URL does for regular forum topics.

I want to do a URL with a description in an article, but can't.

Did I miss something? Or is this functionality just not there for some reason?

It is noted in the Tip text and also in the articles tutorial but it is a bit non obvious. To add a description, put in the URL then add a space, and then type your description:
[http://www.google.com this would be a description]
would show 'this would be a description' linking to google.com.
