Ya I just started playing orks... like my first game was today.. anyways my friend plays space marines and i got owned... he kept me hid whith a lascannon dreadnot and also owned me with sniper scouts, grey knights, and a whirlwhind. I'm sure I lost cause I didn't have enough shooty stuff but what do you guys think I should get? I'm kinda leaning towards lootas and lobbas, but what do you guys think I should get?
I got 16 boys, 5 nobs, I big mek with shok atack gun a buggy and a deff dred.... What should I get?????

I think you two are both understrength in troops choices.
You have to have minimum 2, and allied grey knights
aren't considered a compulsory choice for a space marine
army.
I also think you need more boys.

Unless you plan on playing an army based around meks and dreads you need alot of boys. So as has been said, get 30 or so to start.

Lots and lots of boyz are the way to start off. Once your army has 60 or so, then move on to other things like lootaz. Just don't forget to come back and get more boyz as your army expands. They are the core of your force and you need to keep that in mind.

That is why you bring lots of boyz. You are going to lose a lot on the way in, it's just the way it works. However, after a couple of turns backing off, your opponent has probably abandoned most if not all of the objectives for the game, so it shouldn't be too hard to win at that point. Another thing is that sooner or later, he's going to run out of room to run. Fighting with orcs is an uphill battle, but its great when you get there.
The boyz you are fielding, do they have shootas? If not, you may want to try giving them some. It means that the marines won't have quite as easy of a time backing up away from you. A few other things to remember, if bolter marines move, they can only fire 12". If they move back and are still in range to shoot you, it means that next turn you can move up 6 and then charge another 6 to get to them.
If you are new to the game, you may want to do some brushing up on the rules every now and then (like the shooting rules for various weapon types). I've been playing for over 10 years and I still find rules every now and then that I've been messing up.

Get some more boyz, (like two groups of 25) then get a fast assalut part like stormboyz so he can't back up fast enough. those units may get shot to bits, but they aren't the real killers in your army anyways so it doesn't really matter.
Or you could get about 30 more boyz and three trukkz. That way they should be able to close with the marines without losing to many models. However it will limit the effectivness of your boyz because they may not be in enough numbers to win.

Well the thing is I have just like 10 men left when I get to him then he closes in with grey nights, that being said he doesn't use bolter marines and really the 48 inch range on the whirlwind can take out by itself 6 boys a turn... I guess maybe I shouden't give them that ard boyz upgrade but I guess i'll try tonnes of boys. I lost even though the dice rolls were really on my side... I'm not so good at this...

YOU NEED MORE BOYZ.
Also, spread your boyz out. Make sure you use the 2" coherence, and don't bunch them all up. An ordnance blast won't be able to hit much if your boys are all spread out the full 2". You only have 16 boyz, and ideally you need triple, or even quadruple that, so that when you the marines shoot you, you still have plenty of boyz left when you move in for the kill. Anything else that you try to do will not work unless you get a solid core of around 50-60 boyz to build your force around. Or, you can take 3 or 4 trukks full of boyz as well.
