I was thinking "What to do with all these ponies that come out of the miners box set?"
The answer is Dwarven Beardlings riding draft ponies.
Beardlings have a statline from Mordheim:
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
3 3 2 3 4 1 2 1 8
Maybe making the Ld 7
Thinking that Draft Ponies stats could be:
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 2 0 4 3 1 2 1 3
Being Dwarven means rolling 2d6-1 for pursuit and fleeing.
Unit would be equipped with:
Hand Weapon
Light Armor
Shield
Optional Great Weapon
Optional Throwing Axes
Optional Command choices(Champ, SB, Musician)
No option for any rune standards
No hero may join, ever
May not use General's Ld
Rare Choice in army
I was also thinking the ponies would give the standard +1 armor save. Also I was thinking that maybe they gave an additional +1 against shooting due to the bulk of their bodies or maybe something else I haven't thought of yet.
Well this was the little brain drizzle I had.
Let me know what you think

very funny and cool I would give them +2 agiast shooting and a table
1 - the ponys are acting funny - the dwarfs dismount there pride takes over as no dwarf would ride a "horse"
my not move this turn
2-5 - onward - everythig is normal
6 - wow ponys are fast - move an extra d3 this movment phase.

Maybe the table could be used if they failed a Ld test. I was also thinking of them as Beardlings because they are young and still not so stoic. Another reason Heroes can't join them and that they can't use the general's Ld(snubbing the old fogeys for a while). Maybe they could even be intoxicated and get a table to roll on at the beginning of the battle.
d6:
1 = stupidity
2 = -1 WS
3-4 = no effect
5 = frenzy
6 = stubborn

By the way, you missed the 's' on 'his' in your sig.

Thank you for informing me of my typographical error. It is fixed thanks to you.
I was thinking of the Beardlings as frenzied. I also thought out the rules a bit more. Including points and special rules. That will be put up next time I look at this, probably tomorrow.

I think engineers would be too old and wise (and dwarfish) to be prancing about on horse, even robot ones. Besides, I can't really see engineers wanting to make them.

The ol' Ral Partha Dwarf Goat riders are just kickass IMHO. They have the right dimensions to be used as steeds for the chunkier GW Dwarf sculpts. Got me one I converted to a "Goatasus" as an Aerial Hero for HOTT. I'd say just make'em (Goats) Boars with M6 and no penalty for rider armour, possibly also only count as spear on charge for mount and Cause Terror in Trolls.

I would say indeed goat riders, or for laughs, frog riders or something . With a rhibib attack like an impact hit or something. Remeber, you are being charged by burly, hairy dwarves on giant funky animals here ;-)

I would say that I am amazed that I am not the only one who has had this idea pop into my head. But I would say make them ride Mountain Sheep Rams instead of draft horses. Cause they would look sweet with those curved horns. And I think that having pikes would be sweet.

Yup Bear Riders FTW. Of course bears are really stubborn (and bigger than you), so should probably be Stupid. Dwarves riding boars also seems cool. But orks got them already :-( Goats is just..... "Heh fellas, look at that thar stunty on the goat! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Dwarf frowns and kicks the goat, who comically runs furiously, but just as slowly.
