I would patina the blue shield, don’t get me wrong the blue is cool but I feel a nice patina would bring the model together more then the blue. IMHO

Give highlight onto the plate armour and some matt varnish to the chainmail, or some other method, to give different effects between the metal sections. Atm, his right arm is pretty monotonous.
The grey highlighting on the moustache, the weapon binding and to a lesser extent the tattoos is unsubtle and probably worth a more careful redo. It looks like you have applied one coat of too light a grey.
I love the trousers, and I would keep the shield as is!

Good luck for your competition.

Thanks for the comments, I agree about the black, needs some finess, the armour is painted rusty, its hard to tell from the pictures, the flash is doing odd things to some of the colours these photos are slightly better. although on these the club looks bent for some reason, im rubbish at taking pictures

With tattoos like that, I was expecting the morningstar to be
attached to a body piercing or something.

Seriously, the tattoos are standout on the model.

ok thanks for all the help here are some updated pics, they are still not the best, as unfortunately, it is night so I cant get good lighting ( im also rubbish with cameras), the tattoos have had a wash, and the flesh has had a touch up, also changed the weapon binding. And the armour has been changeda touch too, though it is more noticible in real life, well tell me what you think

oh if i finish this in time, its going on the slate slab

Hey this is awesome! Have you changed the eyes? They seem better than the first pics. How about doing another bit of highlighting on the facial hair? So keep it as it is, but just do a lighter mix for the lower parts of the beard and a thinner highlight (again more so at the ends) on the tache.
The pics of the armour are great, I really like the weathering effect, looks a lot different from the chainmail

Don't glue the wolf head on first time, post a pic with it blu-tac-ed on, and see what it looks like.

I'd add the tiniest amount of blood to the weapons. Ogres aren't likely cleaning their weapons, so a small bit of dried blood would be an extra minor detail. Overall, the model looks really good so far.
