If I add just 1 set of smoke to a squad of 3 Sentinels does it cover all 3 of them?

If I give them 3 sets of smoke can I pop them on 3 different turns?

Centurion.

I always carry three magazines. One to get me to cover. One to put up a spirited defense. And one to get me to where I left my weapon.

Nope, only the vehicle that launched the smoke is covered by it, not the whole squadron. Pg 68, BGB, all references to the smoke launcher indicate a single vehicle and the vehicle squadron rules don't indicate any changes.
Yes, you could pop smoke on just one vehicle of the three to protect it but not the others.

each are separate vehicle however because they are a aquad then the squad can be fired at and must stay within 4" of each other. This is why unless you are short on slots most people would recommend not putting them in a squad.

Each one is individual and each can pop smoke or not as they see fit. An interesting side effect of this though is the fact that you can really use this within the rules to increase the survivability of the squad. The shooting rules for vehicle squads specificaly state that the first squad member to be damaged must always be the closest model. So if you have one pop smoke, it will always take the first hit from every unit that shoots at the squad. So if in a round you take a las cannon hit from one squad, an auto cannon hit from another, 1 heavy bolter hit from another, and 2 assault cannon hits from a 4th unit (and by hit I mean ones that roll high enough to get though the armor) then (assuming one of the early ones doesn't blow up that walker) all but the last assault cannon shot gets assigned to the closest walker. If that's the one that poped smoke, then they are all glancing. This is a great tactic to use if you have a walker that has already taken damage and can't shoot for a turn or has had it's weapon destroyed.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

Wow. That's really nasty. Combined with a 4+ cover save, this could make Sentinels pretty robust in 5th. that'd be a nice change.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

No, because smoke will supposedly just give a cover save in 5th.

According to the PDF, smoke launchers provide the vehicle with a 5+ cover save.
