Interesting; the Sportsman scores were relatively consistent.
For those who attended, was this due to the Sportsmanship scoring system, or was everyone pretty much nice?

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k. Rule #1 - BBAP

Sportsmanship across most (all?) the systems went to a 7-item checklist. From memory:
1) Was my opponent on time?
2) Did they bring their crap?
3) Did they play at a reasonable pace?
4) (Something or other fairly yes/no'ish)
5) Did we resolve rules disputes without bloodshed?
6) Did I have fun?
7) Would I play them again?

Maybe we got lucky. On the whole my opponents were good and competitive, but not jerks.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. |

This is my third Adepticon, and I had more rules disputes at this Adepticon than I have had at the other two combined (The big one where it cost me the game was that Farseers get in Inv save from PotW).
In the invitational I should realized that every point counts, and by not flying my Falcon into “The Blaze” it cost me 6 points and I would have gone from 8th place to 4th. I also messed up in my second game by making a mental error by not shooting a squad of genestealers with my Falcon instead of shooting at a Carnifex and that mistake turned a win into a tie. I always say that the difference between the top players and the middle players is that they top players don’t make mistakes.

Close Go ranks are determined by that sort of thing as well. After a certain point you really get punished hard for very small lapses in judgement.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Yeah I like the way they did sportsman ship. It was very clear cut, with lots of yes or no answers

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
