is it worth it to upgrade the space marine librarian for an extra 15 pts in order to get the extra wound, the extra +1 leadership, and possibly adding an extra power for an additional cost? ive never used a librarian in a game before, are they targeted often? are they a more appealing target than a chaplain?
thanks for all your help

15 points is worth it for the +1 Ld alone. Ever failed a power on a 10? You will never take the little one again, as long as you have the points.

Don't forget the +1 Ld is essential when you're trying to make that Psychic Hood test to nullify opposing Psyker's powers.

The upgrade is so good, I would consider it required. Regardless of weather or not you get the additional psy power (and I would advise against it since you can only ever use one per turn) the +1 leadership is such a huge bonus that it's a steal at 15 points. With leadership 9, you pass leadership based tests (casting psy powers) 83% of the time. At leadership 10 it goes up to 92%. If you look at it from the other side, your 17% chance of failure goes down to 8% so you cut your chance of not casting your powers or of failing a moral check in half by uping your leadership. In addition, you bump the leadership of most squads you join (vet sergeants take most squads from 8 to 9 where as the librarian will bump them up to 10) and you get a 13% better chance at shutting down enemy psy powers using the hood. All of this and you get an extra wound, sign me up.
