the Masque 100pts

19 daemonites = 266pts x 6 = 1596

115 models.

5th ed Rending goes against rear amour of non WS vehicles.
Skimmers that move will only be able to fire primary weapons. (Though mech eldar and tau should still wipe this army)

x3 Daemon lash from the masque + fleet (and run out of DeepStrike) means these girls are going to get into CC right quick.

So 33% of the time, the Masque doesn't arrive.

1 out of 3 games, you lose automatically?

You are correct about mobile mech destroy this army. You may or may not be right about rending going against the rear.

Half your models arrive on turn 1.

You really think 60 guardsmen with a 5+ invulnerable save and no shooting are going to win?

I think that you've forsaken the best feature of the Daemon codex, its multitudes of units, and concentrated your forces to no apparent gain.

Further, you haven't even done so with the best possible units. For this sort of thing Seekers are way better than Daemonettes.

No Icons?

It seems to me that the "right" way to try this style list is as follows:

The Masque
HoS w/Pavane, Icon
HoS w/Chariot
HoS w/Chariot

3 Fiends
3 Fiends
3 Fiends

6 Daemonettes
6 Daemonettes
6 Daemonettes
6 Daemonettes
6 Daemonettes
6 Daemonettes

Daemon Prince
Daemon Prince
Daemon Prince

6 Seekers of Slaanesh
6 Seekers of Slaanesh
6 Seekers of Slaanesh

I think that's about 2k points, you might need to adjust slightly one way or the other.

That gives you far more units, much more difficult for the enemy to burn down. In addition, the Daemonettes are less numerous in comparison to the Cav style Renders, and you've got an Icon on an Indy character you can drop in the first wave. Heck you've even got MC's who might decoy some fire.

I'm not sold on this list as a whole, but its certainly a hymn to rending, and an enemy who payed for lots of armor might find themselves drowned in rending units.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

"So 33% of the time, the Masque doesn't arrive.

Huh? If Masque does not show up how do I automatically lose? If Masque comes down on the second turn then she can still lash that turn too (about 85% she will come down on the first or second turn).

60 guards with no shooting can't wint, but 114 'guards' with fleet and with 3-4 rending attacks each might.

The question is how much of 60 guards with 5+ invul will die on the first round of enemy shooting or due to bad DS. I think we already have Stelek's view on this.

40k, your advice is more serious. However I was thinking in terms of kill points and scoring units (true true, 5th ed my not pan out this way). My army is min kill points and max scoring according to the leaked pdf.

On the other hand I am considering a few icons though they are very expensive.

I do agree Seekers are fantastic for the points compared to daemonites and would certainly take them in a 4th ed army, I might also buy into flamers too.

I could also see buying more heralds (blue scribes might be good as they have both shooting and pavane) in my 5th ed army. Staying away from MC's however is intentional I would either go with 4-5 MC's or none. Taking too few just gives enemy heavy weapons something to do IMO.

And yes all this is based on a leaked pdf that may not pan out wich is why I would sub this army till we know for sure. IMO 40k Daemons in general are in limbo till 5th comes out.
