I picked this army because of the models and their style (I learned this from Dark Crusade) and thus I don't know much about them for play in WHFB. So I'm going to buy GW's 25th anniversary O & G's box set and then I plan on getting the battalion to get started. What else would be necesary for a strong force? What strengths and weaknesses must I always keep in mind about this army in both list building and in play?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Being a New Orcs and Goblins player myself, Id have to ask you what direction you want to take the Army? Goblin Heavy, or Orc Heavy? Or an even mix of both. If you are going for whats better in terms of playing the game then you want an even balance of the two, you wanna use somthing like the goblins to screen for more powerful units. Use Spider Riders, or Wolf Riders to set up flank attacks (I Personally Like Spiders because they have Posion.) And pretty much have alot of Boyz your gonna almost zerg your enemy, but with a little bit of practice it can be much more.

Throw enough Goblins at anything and it should go away, at the very least there will be less Goblins.

What does Eric Clapton and Coffee have in common? Both suck without Cream.

I plan using a mix of both with an empahsize on the orcs. I want to use spider riders for my flanks with units of night goblins with fanatics to protect my boyz. I like the boar boyz alot, they definitely will be an important part of the force. Otherwise I'm just going to play around with my list until I figure out what works.

Thats about right, and a lot of people will sware by the Rock Lobba's but Spear Chucka's have always served my better, Took out an enemy general first turn of the game with one.

Wow, I came to this website expecting others to understand what it's like to be a noob, but obviously yall do not remember. I guess it must be too difficult for all you "vets" to chip in a little advice? Thanks Aqualung for your help.

Well, I don't really know Orcs and Goblins that well, sorry. I'm
new to Warhammer Fantasy in general.

2 days is hardly long enough to have a fit over lack of feedback, some threads run hot, some cold.

1: The general- Either go black orc or a gobbo (generic). NG warboss has too low Ld and BO is so much beter than regular orc and allows his unit to ignore animosity.

2: Magic: 1-2 mages, I tend to face 2 one with 2 scrolls and 1 with that staff that removes power dice (don't have book with me ATM)

The idea of big blocks of orcs supported by flanking NGs is great and a very valid way to use the army. Use spider riders on the flanks of the NGs to warmachine hunt, or in the centre through terrain to use as redirecters.

Squig hoppers are fantastic. The squig herds take more experience to use to get them in the right location to go off.

The bolt throwers are INSANELY good for their points and the 2 for 1 offer. This would be the only must have in any O&G army I would build.

Orc boar boys are the worst unit in the list, savage orc boar boyz are heaps better thanks to the extra attacks from frenzy (both rider and boar get the extra attack each). If you like them take them but don't expect them to do wonders.

Will need more specifics to help more

I second what Waaagh_Gonads said: For characters get a black orc general and it's usually good to give him boar for added mobility and save. Support him with couple of mages (gobbos are cheaper) for magic defense/offense. As for troops get a few solid block of orc boyz + night goblins as throw-away units. You can then round this up with some fast cavalry and warmachines (mainly spear chukkas, as they are cheap and you get 2 for 1 special slot). This should give you a neat core force to which you can later add some more exotic stuff.

Also prepare for your best laid plans to be thrown out the window when all the units set up for flank and or rear charges fail thier animosity tests.

orc heavy also allows much better use of the Waaagh test. Can be devestating on your opponent.

First up, calm down kiddo, this is a forum, not a chat. You can't expect to get instant answers here on your first post. Second, I've been playing O&G for about a year and a half now, after about six months of play I decided I was going to run a goblin list unless the orcs were just absolutely needed, so if you have any questions about goblins just let me know. As far as rock lobba vs. spear chukka goes, I'm one of those folks that finds the spear chukka never hitting, so I say go for the rock lobba. Spider riders are good for flanking, and that's about all I use them for. Fanatics are great and all, as long as you learn how to use them. Never push your night goblin units toward the enemy to get them to release the fanatics, it's a much better idea to get them close enough for your enemy to charge at them, that way they have to run into all of the fanatics. Also, don't rely on the fanatics to accomplish anything after being released, they rarely do.

Can it be? Party liquor rain!?

And all will be blessed Darkness.
