I just read the updated 40k rulebook eratta and it states that Land Speeders that deepstrike count as having moved over 12" when they land.

So am I right to assume they benefit from the glancing/skimmer rule? (Having moved more than 6")

Am I also right to assume that a deep striking landspeeder cannot fire any weapons on the turn it lands? (Moved over 12")

Your first sentence answers the two questions that follow.

Since it is possible for a speeder to move >12" and not gain the SMF (by flying in a circle, for example) technically, they don't gain SMF. But most people house rule it that they do.

I've been to tournaments that play it both ways - so it is best to ask beforehand just to be sure.

Every player I've met who reads the FAQ understands it to mean that the speeder benefits from SMF but cannot shoot.

thanks... I have been playing it wrong, mainly because I or any of my opponents never bothered to look at the 40k rulebook eratta

Due to so many arguments about FAQs and people not having them at the store with them, I personally took it upon myself to print out all of the FAQs and hole-punched them and threw them in a binder. There was much rejoicing from the GW employees who had lacked the foresight to do this themselves. This is a cheap project and alleviates much of the angry arguing due to lazy players and people mis-remembering what their FAQ actually says.

Now, if I could just get my opponents to hole punch their codexes and army lists, put them in a notebook and actually bring them to a game, I'd be happy.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

That's what I do, along with apoc data sheets.

I did that a few times.

The most amusing part was when they started disappearing.

Losers who don't like FAQ's, or lazy asses too cheap to print them out?

Hard to say. lol
