Hi there im looking to get into 40k and have already bought Typhus and a group of 10 chaos space marines

I've been looking at alot of lists on here the best i've seen seems to be

HQ
Chaos lord - terminator armour, nurgle, plague bringer
ELITE
Chaos terminators - 7, reaper, 2 p.fist
Chaos terminators - 7, reaper, 2 p.fist
TROOPS
Plague Marines - 7, champ, p.fist, 2 meltas, rhino
Plague Marines - 7, champ, p.fist, 2 meltas, rhino
Plague Marines - 7, champ, p.weapon, 2 plas guns, rhino
HEAVY SUPPORT
Obliterator Cult - 2
Obliterator Cult - 2

Just switching the Lord for Typhus but I am wondering is this a good set up for a noob and will it hold up vs alot of melee or heavy artillery/vehicles?

I don't see why the Rhinos are needed unless you want to use them as cover. In 4th, riding in them is just asking to get Entangled. In 5th, you're about as mobile running as riding. What's the point? For the points spent on those Rhinos, you could get both Termie squads an Icon of Nurgle (not the best, but fluffy and still useful), give the third Plague Champ a PF instead of the silly PW (costing you one attack in 5th, but still worthwhile IMO), and upgrade one of the other PM squads' meltas to plasmaguns. Or get another Oblit, or swap the Lord for Typhus himself, or any of a number of useful things.

In the 1st GT heat, I faced three DG armies.
All three fielded 2 DPs or 1 DP plus Sorcerer, 4 or 6 Obliterators, two DG squads (8 Marines in Rhinos) or 14 Marines footslogging, sometimes Greater Daemon, some Daemons, and sometimes Raptors.
Typhus is too slow, leave him at home.

I was looking into raptors but they seem fairly useless with the death guard, and is Typhus really not worth usin? if not I'll probably grab a sorc in termie armor and the DP = /

Drop the termies and get more obilterators and a couple of demon princes.

DP/DP is really the best way to run huh?

if you are going for true blue nurgle the termies need marks and the oblitz gotta go.
however if your not, i would also consider finding a way to get the plague marine squads up to 8man. along with tegeus suggestion to run more plas.
if your using typhus, your gonna need to deep strike him or have a Lr. both of which are not advisable if you are using slow moving support like oblitz imo.
and against shooty armies, walking those termies is a death wish.

So is Typhus more or less useless cause I could pick up dbl DP or a DP and I love the Sorc in termie armor lol and for my heavy artillery arent Oblits about it arent Nurgle havocs just frikkin useless?
