My name is Ian, i'm from the frigid wastes of Canada, namely MB. I am at the stage of a gamer were you try to get back into the game after a long break. There used to be 8 people I knew and collected with, but then people found out about what we were doing. The general oppinion was that it was pretty nerdy, like some Dungeons and Dragons thing, or like the game were you sit in a basement leveling up your elf mage...
So there was a whitch hunt through the school, and anyone who had any of the stuff was outcast and relentlessly bothered by others about it.
I moved on, hiding my stuff away from my friends in a shoebox and continued with my life, playing hockey, paintball, laccrosse, school, fishing, partying. I avoided the inquisition this way.
As i was cleaning my room, i found an old Vans shoe box, and opened it to find my Catachan army. (a pathetic little gathering of 20 squaddies, a chimera, 2 sarge's, a captain, a heavy bolter, 3 snipers, and 2 demolition charge boys) I becan painting the unfinished ones, digging through my bitz box and modding the guys i have, as the closest GW is in a mall and I would be seen and the cycle would start again.
So I am kinda what you would you call an underground-gamer. I have been searching for someone else to play, but there are few I can find. Since I am no great painter, (I haven't gotten around to getting a good brush and only have the worn out starter), I stay to modding troops, making terrain, and want to be an actual "gamer"

Many of us had a similar experience, and many more here on dakka actually stopped altogether for 4-5 years before getting back into it with a vengeance (myself included), so you are in good company. Welcome to dakka!
