is anyone playing with the new rules yet? they seem pretty solid cept for a few glitches and it looks as they are fixing as they go along, it almost feels like a beta test. also just hoping they are going to fix fear as it is wayyyy overpowered.

How is it way overpowered? I'm interested in the game and
am interested in any commentary you could provide.

i just started playing myself but from my understanding a typical courage 3 vs fear 7 needs a 6 to not succumb to fear. and the undead cause fear in anything thats not undead. but i rely like the rule set with the exploding 6s, it makes combat a little more fun in my opinion. so far im loving the magic mechanic atm with the pool growing if you dont use it but you need magic defense just to block the other magic users. but im still getting used to the game as a hole and cant wait to get a good grasp of it.

The "exploding sixes" and the accompanying "bucket o' dice" involved in just about every combat are what I find very unappealing...

I'm buying the starter next year - any clue as to where I might find people to play with?

I don't know if the Confederation of the Red Dragon in the USA still exists, otherwise you might be able to find people through that. The UKCord has decided to hang on, but open it's forum up more for other miniature games as well, as there are very few older Confrontation players that seem to like the latest version. Myself included - I still prefer 3.5.

NACORD seems to be dead. Can't get any replies on their forum (no activity).
Seeing the new rules for old miniatures, they've powered them way down. If you're trying to build CAOR size forces, it's extremely expensive if all your army has is metal available. I'm also not impressed with the PPP available for this game on the whole. The Wolfen aren't that bad, but I'm not into the Wolfen as much.
Perhaps when they've expanded the choices and rules some (more factions with real Army books, and more force choices). Problem is keeping a fan base in the mean time to keep Rackham from going under (they've definitely experienced problems and I hate that they've gone exclusively to PPP and no Cry Havocs for game support!).
