Hey folks, Just thought I'd let everyone know I'll be down in Austin tonight at Battleforge Games for a while. I'm not sure what all is going on tonight, but I know that it's their normal 40k night (or at least one of them).
I'll be bringing an army with me. Probably not too many points, but definitely something playable. So long as people don't mind playing against some unpainted and some old stuff.
If anyone is going to be around there today, You can let me know here, or I'll just see you there ^_^.

Well, I got down to Austin tonight just fine.
Met a few guys down there, and actually got to PLAY a game! I didn't bring much in the way of an actual army (I didn't even have a list!). Just whatever I thought would make a solid enough army list should I actually get the opportunity to play a game. It ended up being an 800 point army all told.
I played against a guy named Zach and had a blast. I had my marines and he played his mech stormtrooper IG list. I ended up losing by only 100 points at the end of turn 6, which isn't bad considering I hadn't played in YEARS.
I'll definitely be making more trips down that way in the future!

I'm in Kerrville if that matters. I usually play at central-command-games in San-Antonio.

I play in houston during the week. On weekends battleground looks decent as does Ninja Pirates (been to a tourney there and several at the old Thor's Hammer).
You should check into Bell of Lost Souls. Thats an Austin driven site if I am not mistaken.

I have been a reader of BoLS for a little while now. They've got some of the best campaigns I've ever seen. As well as some really great fan driven rules and army lists. I'm not sure if I've met any of the folks IRL just yet (I didn't get many folks names when I was in Austin the other week). If I can get down there on a regular basis it would be cool to get in on some of the action.

Headed back down to Battlefield Games this Thursday! Not sure what I'll be bringing as far as gaming stuff yet.
I'm half tempted to bring my Autumn Foothills to get some in person reactions ^_^. We'll see what I end up doing.
I do know I'll be bringing some Battletech stuff along for the ride. Haven't had any big mech fightin for a hot minute! Should be entertaining!

Hmm.
By the end of the year, I will have moved to College Station. Anyone know the scene there? I know it's within two hours of both Houston and Austin, but it would be nice to not have to drive so far to find a good gaming group.

It's kind of depressing. Campus clubs don't really go for TT and the locals are clannish making it hard to track a game down. A new FLGS is opening soon but I don't know how long it's going to last since the owner doesn't have anything to fall back on if boardgames and TT demand goes South.
Next semester an Alum and I are going to try to coax some gamers from his old group out of hiding.

The FLGS in College Station called Lytle's Comics and Games was where I used to play about 4 years ago. I'm actually moving back to CS next week, so hopefully people are still playing there...

Had a good time tonight at BFG in Austin. Got a game in against some Blood Angels with my marines. It was a bloody bloody messy messy game. And it was great. Death Company can diaf though. Can you tell I lost? ^_-.
I got some good reactions from folks about my foothills table, and bigred of Bell of Lost Souls took some battle shots on it for their upcoming Macharian Crusade book.
No Battletech was played, but I'm hopeful that in the future we'll be able to get that going as well ^_-.
Good times. More in the future.

So far, I've only been to BFG down that way, there are a few other stores in the area that I haven't checked out just yet, but I've found a store that I like, that's clean, and has a happening gaming group. So I think I'm happy to stick with it.
If ya have a car and a thursday to kill, you should definitely head down that way thursday night and bring your army with ya, people are always down for a pick up.
You should also check out Austin Miniature Minions for more info on things going down in the C-Tex area. I'll start putting more info from there here for folks to check out (with permission of the OP of course).
You should also sign up for the Dakka Gamers Catalog if you haven't done so yet. That way, should over Fort Hood'ers come around Dakka, they'll know they're not the only one!

Dude, you're at Hood at can't find a place to game at?? America's Heroes Comics & Games on Rancier is practically right outside the East Gate, and Battlefield Games is a shot down Clear Creek to Stan Schlueter Loop.
America's Heroes - 104W Rancier Ave.
Battlefield - 2201 W. Stan Schlueter Loop Suite A300
PM me sometime when you've got a weekend free, we'll get our 40K on.
