Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Just as a reminder for everyone, the US Grand Tournament tickets went on sale yesterday. They are selling tickets for all 3 of the USGTs.

To order them, you need to call their direct services.

Last year Las Vegas sold out very early, so if you want a ticket you better order yours soon.

People go all the way to Vegas and actually play 40K?

Oh the humanity!

Not at all - it's cheaper to buy a GT ticket and sleep under the gaming tables, is all.

That is nice.

It is my hope that you and Darrian finally get in a game.

LVGT the week after Burning Man, and right in the same neighborhood. Sweet. I'll see you all there if I can see at all.

I hope someone other than Darrian and I shoot their mouths off before the tourney. It would be interesting to have a whole roster of challenge matches cooking.

On a related note, I wonder whether the tourney organizers will indulge us and allow our first games of the tourney to be those challenge matches, or whether we're going to have to get in our grudge matches before the actual event. Hmm.

Say, does anyone know of any accommodation near the strip that is slightly less ridiculous than $200 a night?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Stelek & I tried that last year on night 1... almost died. As in murdered.

Suck it up and stay on the strip, stay sane, and stay alive.

(I'm exaggerating by so small of an amount that it's not funny.)

Seriously. Stay away from even 1 block off the strip.

Get good rooms at a casino EARLY.

If it isn't a 4 star or better ON the strip, you WILL regret it.

If you are 20 and still believe you're invincible, by all means...

Of course it is Las Vegas, so there are a lot of hotels nearby.

You do not want to stay at a motel, but the major hotels off the strip are fine (Palms, Orleans, Rio, Palace Station, Hard Rock etc.).

You want to stay away from downtown as a general rule.
'
There is a monorail that runs along the strip so keep that in mind.

Also Las Vegas is getting hit by the double whammy of a poor economy, and very high gas prices, so their occupancy is low, and getting lower, so the prices might fall.

So one time I stayed off strip. It was just a block away (across from the In & Out). OMG. Don't.

It was amusing sitting poolside and seeing a guy and girl come up, go to their room, and see the girl leave 20 minutes later.

You think LV is bad? Last year at the Baltimore GT I was in a much worse situation.
High School Musical on ice was playing right across the street from my hotel!
Walking back after the last round on saturday night just as the show let out was the longest walk of my life.

I am thinking about setting up a tent behind the convention center. The price is right and I should have some spare room if anyone is interested.

So you are going to pitch a tent, and stick it in the rear?

"...in a van, down by the river!"

Maybe I'll try a hostel and drive, or camp outside of town.

More like down by the river by Neil Young... and I am talking about Baltimore where it all ends for the 2008 season of V edition.
