So at my recent monthly big game with all my pals they urged me to drag mah boyz back out and give em another go. Since selling my 1K Sons to a friend gave me the money to finish my guard, and I was also selling all my daemons to another friend, I figured that money would net me plenty of orks to flesh out my army. So far I am going to have around 1000 points and am looking for advice on directions to expand into.
HQ- Warboss w/ PK, Heavy armor
HQ- Big Mek KFF
Elite- 10 Lootas
Troops- 29 slugga/ choppa boyz + 1 Nob w/ Klaw & pole
Troops- Same as Above
Troops- Same as Above
This includes some of the new stuff from selling my daemons to a friend. But I will still be able to pick up a few more things. I really like the green tide, and my final goal will be to put as many boyz on the board as I can. As far as anti tank goes the lootas will do a nice job on lighter vehicles. Was thinking about going with some big gunz, storm boyz w/ zag, kommandos w/ snikrot. Also I have a Leman Russ I had converted into a looted vehicle a ways back. I figure not taking storm boyz would be idiotic, and as far as kommandos w/ snikrot.... coming on the board from any edge to tie things up is REALLY nice. Input and ideas greatly appreciated.

I suggest you avoid using looted wagons (I.E. That converted Leman Russ) because they cost too much and are too flimsy. I am a fan of the green tide however and I am in love with kommandos + snikrot.

The best means of defense is attack, an' the best means of attack is a really really big one, right, with lots of boys an' dead big shooty things and what have ya.

A Russ could easily be fielded as a Killkannon Battlwagon.
Your boys should get some rokkits.
No point fielding a squad of 10 Lootas. Either go big (14 or max) or as small as possible. Middling squads get you all the disadvantages of both with none of the advantages.

I have to agree with Tegeus. Max out your Lootas. You can afford it and yes you definitely need some rokkits in there bud. Also if you're doing horde, you may want to consider using a Wierdboy instead of a Big Mek. They're powers are a little unpredictable, but well worth it. 2 (that I can remember) will help your boys get across the board faster, and with the Warp 'Ead upgrade the re-roll is invaluable. My 1 1/2 pennies.

Disagree on the Weirdboy. In the current version, the KFF save is invaluable (could change with screening rules in 5th). In 5th, the KFF may not be needed, but neither will the bonus Waaaghs: you can just Run and use your one Waaagh on the turn you can reach combat.

A particularly adept Ork player by the tag of "Redbeard" has suggested that Lootas are a bit of a waste (or maybe he doesn't, I suggest looking it up). I'm inclined to agree that Lootas, while really really really shooty tend to fold like wet cardboard when someone gets around to spitting on them. From what I've read of Redbeard's stuff, it's worth filling out your Troops with boyz.

While this is true, I've tried to keep my ears clear of any 5th rumors until July. My Wierd Boy has been quite a success in the games I've played with him. I'm not saying that the BM isn't worth it, but everyone has their own playing styles and to that end, I've found the WB to be of more use to me than a BM. Once again just my opinion.
As far as 5th is concerned, we'll just have to wait and see...

Orks have no genitals, thus all their anger, therefore they cannot be gay. Yeah I do wanna max the loota squads over time, for now I have 10, and will be grabbing the last box of 5 ASAP. Hopefully as I build more I will go to 2x15 loota's. Also I was figuring on 2x3 kannons, they are cheap and good anti tank for their cost. Any objections to this, I dont see a need for lobba's, and the randomness of the zzap gun is too unreliable. I figure all the other HS choices take up too much of my army pts when I am going green tide. As to the rockets... I did think about them, but as this army will NOT be finished before 5th edition I am unsure as to whether i need to take em. If the run rule becomes real am I really going to take time to shoot? I'd expect the RL and Shootas to become mostly useless in 5th. Thats why I just gave em a claw nob and slugga/ choppa combo. Figure the points I save from two 30 boy squads, not taking the rokkits, is enough for a full kannon squad.
